hi i have another simple question, does a filter have to have the result as a filter type: surface in order to be converted to a map such as a bump?

It has to be a surface filter. Thats because the simple filter doesn't have a notion of 'height', and how can you have a bump map if you don't have height ? smile:D

Cats have never forgotten this.
And rightly so.

you can convert any image into a bumpmap. a bumpmap is simply a grayscale map that when used in another program, the values of black, gray, and white are given the significance of values in 'height'. thus, you can make any image into a bumpmap by simply converting it to grayscale. however, if you want FF to spit it out for you that way, then it's like angelboiii said smile:)
