Is there a way to copy and paste a node from a network, so that a duplicate would retain all the input connections?? That shortcut would be really handy..

Are you talking about coping a subtree? If so just right click on the beginning component of the tree that you want to copy and select "Select Subtree" from the pop-up sub menu...then right click again and do a copy paste..Then you will have that branch of the tree.....

no, i would just like to copy one component (node?) and the duplicate would have all the same input connections the original has.. you know.. to save you the trouble of reconecting everything in lets say bomber if you want another copy of it with same inputs (something conected to 5 particles, 5 of somethings connected to chance, something connected to scale, something to rotation..)
I couldn find something like that, so i guess it doesnt exist.. was just wondering if im missing something.. smile:)

you can copy multiple components all hooked up to each other by highlighting all those components at once. then, right click and hit 'copy'. after that, you can right click and 'paste' that entire routine/group. it will NOT be connected to anything else yet, but it will keep any lines hooked up to each of the other components within that group. and, like CF said, you can also use the 'select subtree'.

one other thing that folks may not know about this is, you can do the selecting of groups of components and copy them into the clipboard and then exit out of that filter and open another and paste that same group in the new filter. as long as you dont do anything else to change what's in the clibboard, you can do this endlessly filter to filter. it's a good way to bring whole snippets into your filters.

you can also hit control-a to select all components within a filter.

+1 This would save a lot of fussing.

I sometimes catch myself instinctively ALT-dragging FF nodes, which is a Photoshop habit. (ie to copy stuff)

Also, while we're on the subject, I would love to be able to copy and paste connections. So if I have an output going to 10 different places, I can right click the output triangle, copy connections and paste it onto another output. Same for inputs.

I would love a ctrl+click/drag to copy elements. Having this work on both connection arrows and full components would be a dream. Maintaining the input connections on the duplicated node is a great addition to the idea, surprised I never thought of that.

I think question is different.
He wants same controlling element for two feeds even after exiting the editor.
If I am guessing right than its simple, one output can be fed in multiple elements as input!!!

Please do explain ur question more
