I'm trying to do stuff with the new offset using old offset input (and without adding components that break the seamless tiling). But where black offset H would offset negative (old component), black offset X is just null (new component).
I've tried converting the inputs but that's useless in a lot of cases since the new offset just doesn't go negative.

I would use the lookup component but that one doesn't work as expected for size/pixels smaller than 100%.

(see attachement)

Anybody an idea?

New offset.ffxml

Sjeiti, the old Offset component (as well as all other obsolete components) is located in the Obsolete category in the components bar.

Okay,
But obsolete means I shouldn't use it anymore right? And the new one is so fundamentally different that in some cases it will be very hard to convert a v1 filter to v2. Or am I missing something here?

the obsolete components will all work. they are simply marked 'obsolete' because they are no longer the default version of that component.

and why are these attachments '.xml' instead of '.ffxml' now? weird.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

...oh wait... I got it

the way from old to new is to remap the original offset to a HDR gradient starting at -1.

Is there still a way to access the obsolete components in FF3 apart from copying them from older filters?

YES!

I went to the help file and when you to OBSOLETE version you can read this:

Quote
The Obsolete component category is visible ONLY when a corresponding option is turned on in the Filter Editor Options:

Show the Obsolete category on the Components bar

Shows or hides the Obsolete category on the Components bar. This category contains previous versions of all Filter Forge components that have been updated or removed. The obsolete components are retained so that all versions of Filter Forge are backward-compatible.

I had actually been looking for options, but only in the Filter Editor menu bar.

Theres an option "show the obsolete category on the components bar" in the options.
Go to Tools > Options > Filter Editor
Note that the options are in the main window, NOT the editor window.

The Filter Editor tab of the Options dialog lets you adjust the parameters affecting the behavior and look of the Filter Editor.

The Options dialog is accessible by choosing Tools > Options from the Main Window menu.

For example offset is in some cases more straightforward if the center is 0,5 and not 0.
