I'm in the process of creating a guitar filter (w/ FF1); so far I have the neck, with frets (I cheated a bit, they aren't spaced properly) and some oddly placed strings.
I am completely stuck on how to create the body smile:?: , I was thinking using a perlin noise as the bevel width of tiles and running that through a threshold, but that creates too much variation. Here's the file, if anyone wants to help me solve this or improve what's there already (which is only half the height map), I would be much obliged.
The reference I'm using is a Fender stratocaster.

I'm getting closer. There's still a number of problems with it (the spacing on the wires and the frets is screwy, a lot of details are incomplete and/or off), and I still can't get the shape right. I did use the uber's curve to shape, but I can't get the curve right. It's missing a lot of details, but it's slow enough as is, couldn't really handle anything more.

Carl and CF&M, thanks for your help smile;) , I did use uberzev's shape to curve, and it's probably the best way, I just can't quite get it right.
Carl, FilterForge isn't letting me download anything at the moment, so I'll have to check the filter out later.

Thanks, Kraellin, I wasn't quite happy with it, but I guess I can submit it now and fix it up later.
