i've seen a number of sketch type filters, pencil, charcoal and so on. and these are good. i've also explored the guts of some of these looking for a particular effect i've tried to create and whereas some of them come close, i cant quite find or make it. therefore, i'm looking for some help on this one.

this goes slightly farther than sketch. what i want is something very similar to the 'find all edges' filter in paint shop pro. i've tried threshhold and levels and various curves to get this and it just doesnt come up very well. the 'find all edges' filter gives you an outline or just the edges type sketch with all the filler missing. i can post an example if needed.

i seem to be dancing all around this thing. i either end up with too much filler or too little edges. i'm fairly sure FF could do this but so far i've not been able to get it to jump through that particular hoop. any ideas??

Well one method that I used for Neon Nights can most likly fit into the close but no cigar side. I have tried to modify it over time to try and get it close to a find all edges but not quite there. Here it is as of today.

It still has filler and other things. Here is the FF file. I have it so there are 3 types of edges. It still has flaws but maybe workable. smile:)
Mess around with it if you like. smile:D

You should post an example from that program.

and Ro, i dont recall specifically if i tried the sobel filter or not, but i'll look at it again the next time i have FF up. i did try one of your pencil types, i think.
