very cool, guys. i tried it out, also. weird stuff
![]() i actually had a similar idea a few years ago and tried to get my brother to program it, but he was too busy with other stuff. mine was a bit different, but i'm glad to see someone doing this ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Awesome ThreeDee! I remember now doing this once before with a plug-in for FL Studio, but it must have slipped my mind before. Maybe I'll start experimenting again.
There are "textures" in sound and in other senses besides sight. How wicked would it be to transfer a FF filter to a different sense! |

Another one with some rhythm elements added.

hehe, it's even in 4/4 time, threedee
![]() try the lines and curves feature. it gives the best results i've gotten so far. but, i'm noticing a drawback to this program the more i use it; there is a certain similarity to almost all of these. they just sort of start sounding very similar one to the next after a while. so, i'm probably not going to compose the next overture with any of these ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

so, how did you get that scrolling effect and the indicator line on there, threedee? did you run the .wav file into another program?

There is another little freeware program called RGB Music Lab that you may want to check out as well...

Yup. I put the image and wav into After Effects and added the scroll and indicator line there. |

Yes, since the sounds all done with the sine curve by additive synthesis, they have the tendency to start sounding similar after a while. But you can apparently also load a different waveform into the program (haven't tried it yet). Probably this program is more useful for creating some off-the-wall individual sounds that you can then use in some other program. There seems to be plenty of other choices of image-to-audio, most of them not exactly freeware. Mainly I thought it is an interesting idea to use FF to generate the image that you use to generate the sound. Especially since you get such a direct relationship with the image and the resulting sound when you do it this way. And the idea of generating images with the reulting sound in mind gives you a whole different perspective. |

thanks, threedee.
my idea a few years back was to take the rgb values and translate those into tones and have it work both ways, picture to tones and tones to pictures. this guy is doing something quite a bit differently. but, i thought it would be interesting to play something like a piece by bach or chopin or the stones and see what kind of picture it would paint or in the reverse, plug in the mona lisa and what she sounded like. it really shldnt be that hard to do. i would guess it could even be done with visual basic or maybe even better, java. heck, you might even be able to do it with lua and that would make it REAL interesting for FF. imagine if your filter actually played music ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
