Hi,
Just getting started here. I want to use a filter ("Gold" by Momonline). It has the life buoy symbol in it for applying to an existing image, like so many.
I just want the basic texture without the image so I can apply the texture to a 3d object in another app.
I went into filter editor and removed the image node. Problem is, the next filter in the chain (high pass) wants a Source. If I delete THAT, then the NEXT (result) filter wants a Height. I can't seem to find a control that will satisfy either.
What is the solution, and pardon me again for what must be a very noobish question.
Thanks!

Just replace the image component with a noise component....ie...Cells,Stones...etc.. Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times!

I actually had tried that but I didn't experiment enough. 2nd time around I did better. Thanks much.

Yep you are welcome...
Sometimes just unplugging the image component and plugging in a noise does require some more experimenting then usual...But that's just the fun sometimes.. Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times!

The famous Lifesaver image is meant to be a generic testing image for effect filters. Effect filters are meant to alter an input image that you select from your harddrive. Instead of removing it, select an image you would like to turn into gold. Roses are #FF0000
Violets are #0000FF
All my base are belong to you.

Thats fine but - if you just need the texture for use on a 3d model for example, then you don't want any image - just the texture.

Works but - no texture depth. Try it with Gold for example - I just did, and it still needed the Noise node to make it work, otherwise all I got was a basic color. Maybe there are some other patterns that might work though. Thanks for the idea.

hmm. I bet there are some metal/gold filters that are designed for non-input generation, that's probably what you should be looking for.
Just did some looking. I actually couldn't find one and that's bad. How come we don't have a basic flat metal texture filter? 'Tis essential. Roses are #FF0000
Violets are #0000FF
All my base are belong to you.
