I have seen this very good filter BUT is VERY SLOW and can ONLY be used at 600 x 600
Ink ghosts http://filterforge.com/filters/10137.html This ONLY works well for 600 x 600 , if you try to make a higher resolution it will take lots of time, and even HOURS to render the result.
OK I´m a MUCH less expert than you, and also think that there is something wrong in this filter that is making it really go VERY SLOW Please anyone that wants to optimize this filter and make a GOOD construction to get the same effect but faster? Then it can be contacted the author for authorization. Thanks very much |

Thanks Skybase and Carl for acepting the challenge
Very well done bringing the filter to HALF the time !! and only looses a bit of detail in the softer smokes, so not a drastic change as you said. Good. Let´s see what Skybase can do |

It'll take a while before I can do something about it. I basically began just taking stuff apart and looked at it for a while just to see what can be done. Well turns out there's a lot of things that can help this filter bring its self the speed.
I gotta do my thesis work and it's kinda on the edge right now. I'll be working on something like this next week probably hehe. |

Thanks very much, this is much faster, although it does not give the same results but is still very good and give very nice effects. I have had the idea also that WHY ONLY USE PLAIN COLORS ? If the filters has two colors, why not change this colors into photo images ? Well I have already done this and here you can see the results as I have added them to the filter as new presets I only updated the name with the "Images", all the filter is exactly the same, only added presets. Also you do not have to change BOTH colors into photo images, you can change just one and use the as plain normal color as tint colorizer of the photo.
As you can see for example here  |

Also you do not have to change to BOTH colors to TWO different photos, you can replace both colors with the SAME photo, and then you have the beautiful smoke effects over that one photo and arrange the smoke effects with the "Size, pixels" and "variations" sliders.

Also using just ONE photo for both colors and then change the focus setting to around 50 and the put smaller amounts in the "size pixels" slider you can get weird effects.

And with the same one as in the above post but changing the focus to 25 or 30 it will be like the invasion of the black ink over the photo

And with just ONE photo, focus at 50 and make the Size Pixels amount very small according to the maximum value available, you can get this weird effect shown here below

Thanks, glad you like the idea. I also suposse that the author forgives us for modifying and changing his filter, but the aim is to be able TO USE IT, as before was VERY SLOW. I have also made this other thread to show what is possible to make with this filter adding photos Ink Ghosts by Tim2501, Optimized by Rod_D and added Images options |
