Belgium Ripple filter won't render bigger than 4500 X 4500 on either of my win pro 64 systems.
Stand alone or photoshop plugin does not matter. stops rendering and gives bug report. I've not yet reported it. SYS 1: FFPRO 3.011 Win 64, 2600k quad core, 16gb mem, 660 gtx 2gb video card 3000 X 3000 renders less than 5 minutes any thing bigger takes hours then fails SYS 2: FFPRO 3.011 Win 64, Q6600 quad core,8gb mem, 8800 GTX 768MB video card 3000 X 3000 renders less than 15 minutes. 4500X 4500 took hours but did complete. Anything bigger takes hours then fails. I'm trying to figure out it's FF or both my Systems. I even tried replacing the half a dozen obsolete components in the filter and tested again. Problem remains Any body else willing to try? you need FFpro. Belgium Ripple filter:default brown preset size 6000 X 6000 with settings SET Anti-aliasing 17 SET Edge only SET Clip HDR If you can please try so that I can know if it's the filter, or maybe setting in my hardware. Thanks Frank |

Yep its that filter...Not an efficient filter for the bigger sizes....Eliminate the motion blur and some of those distortions then it will work good...

Thanks I'll start by getting rid of motion blur, then one distortion at a time seeing what I can get rid of without loosing the over all look. |

So far anything I replace Motion blur with, really messes up the look. The closest replacement component seems to be Smudge, but end result still not good.
Just a couple hours of trying so far. So now I'll see find another filter with similar look and see how they did it and if I can use something from that to replace some components of the Belgium Ripple filter. |

what is the error that it gives?
If it is the bad allocation error there is no solution, but if it another different one, could be possible |

A lot of the "slowness" in this filter comes from the highpass / blur that goes into the heightmap.
Here's what I did instead (it looks pretty similar). Rendering time for the a 600x600 image of the default preset cut by ~40% on my PC. ![]() *for FF team: Both the original filter and my mod run slower in the FF4 Beta! ![]() Belgium Ripple (faster).ffxml |

Thanks for mentioning that. I modified your faster version and added several controls and would like to share it in this thread, But I don't know how to post it to this thread, like you did with your faster version. |

Ohh I figured out how to find it and post it here.
Indigo Ray was spot on about speeding up things by removal of Highpass>blur combo I had tried removing Motion blur and replacing with other things, but then lost most of the style I liked. Updated all obsolete components 12-31-12. Added Rainbow control for fun. Added 2 scroll controls Added Sharpen to get back some image punch that was lost by removal of slow Highpass. blur combo. Other unmentioned improvements. Other notes: Still buggy at higher res on some systems. For Hi res This works best for me using FF in 64Bit Photoshop 5.1 This can do 5000 X 5000 image on 64Bit Photoshop win 7 64 16bg mem (Bad Allocation error at 6000 X 6000) On the same system Stand Alone FF hangs and does Bad Allocation error at 3000 X 3000 Thanks to Dr Evil for creating this wonderful filter in the first place. I hoping I'm not violating any filter etiquette by reposting this filter with improvements here. I would not post this as my own work in the filter gallery, because it's still got the same basic look. But if DrEvil would post it there I would be honored and more people would get to use it. Thanks to all for the help. I learned a lot today. Frank Belgium Ripple (Frankified).ffxml |

I need help from Indigo Ray or anyone that can do it.
I was wondering if you can load this new filter (the Frankiefied Plus) version and add the surface height increase like you did in the faster version you posted earlier in this thread. I could not figure out how to duplicate that when I updated the obsolete motion blur I was able to add a lot more controls but it still lacks the depth yours had by increasing the surface height. Some more controls I added in this plus version. Scale Stretch Improved Scrolling Contrast Reflectivity features which for some reason had not been working under the lighting tab. I'm totally new at this stuff, I put a lot of work into this and just need a little help to get it completed. I've got about 20 hours in on these modifications. If I knew what I was doing and was not such a NewB I could have knocked out the improvements in less than an hour. I'm trying to have 0 obsolete components. Thanks very much for any help. And again Thanks to Dr Evil for creating this wonderful filter in the first place. I hoping I'm not violating any filter etiquette by reposting this filter with improvements here. I would not post this as my own work in the filter gallery, because it's still got the same basic look. But if DrEvil would post it there I would be honored and more people would get to use it.
