I have already told you the good things in the dedicated thread Polygon Fill by ThreeDee
BUT regretably I have some kind of negative comment to say in some way, is NOT something that you have done wrong, is what I was expecting and wanteed to have, and that it is that in your filter you have to assign MANUALLY each color corresponding to the image you may load to be converted with this wonderful filter because the filter does not pick the colors fr om the source, and as far as I know there is NO color picker in FF to pick the colors from the original source. When I have suggested about this filter in this thread, my idea was that the filter should pick up the colors from the original source image, BUT I did not tell this when I made the suggestion and the thread, so it is not at all something bad that was wrong when you have made it. Also thinking about it, it would be probably difficult for the filter to decide WICH color should it choose as the solid color to show it and probably wouuld involve complex maths as it happens in the Delaunay triangulation that solves this. I suggest the following things only because I would like to use the filter without modifying it and so you could get the deserved usage rank SUGGESTIONS AND POSSIBLE VARIATIONS As this is YOUR own filter, I do not want to change anything that you may not want or like, so I want to make some suggestion and possible variation. 1 - CHANGE THE LAYERS COLOR CONTROLS TO ALLOW IMAGES INSTEAD OF ONLY COLORS This is a very easy thing to do and I have done it and in this way you can choose the original source image in the first one at top, and then sel ect the image again in the layers below so they pick up the colors fr om the original source, although in this way the colors are taken with the whole image and not as one solid color but I like much the anyway in this way and it looks very good for me. 2 - MODIFY THE COLORS CONTROLS AND USE AS SOURCE THE ORIGINAL SOURCE IMAGE COLOR CONTROL Also though about another possible way, and it is replacing the color controls and connect directly the main and original color control for the main source image in all the 9 layers and this way you get the whole same image in all the layers without having you to select the source image in all the color controls of the layers, BUT this leaves the layers as only on-off switchs, which is not bad, but you have less options than with the suggestion above. I mean that with the option number 1 above you can mix different source color images and you are not forced to have the same imavge in all the 9 layers. Perhaps you may have a different idea and another possible way to do it. ------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------ Here below is two examples I have done with the suggestion 1 wh ere I have only changed the color controls of the layers to allow images. The first one is with preset 1 and solid colors as it appears in your original filter ![]() |

and here below is the same as above but I have changed the first two layers to show the original lifesaver image instead of the solid color choosen manually, and so this way the colors are choosen directly from the source image, whatever the one I may load.
Also I have added a little more shadow amount ![]() |

Here is one example with another image using the first suggestion and only using 3 layers of the source image and using a solid color for background
By the way, for this work right you MUST load ALSO the same source image in the File--> Open Image in the top left corner, OR at least the size configured must be the same as the source image loaded in the color control ![]() |

I think is better than File-->Open image, is to load the image first in the color control and then just use File --> Recent Images, and then sel ect the last one you loaded, so both have the same size and resolution ratio ALTHOUGH, also you could choose to have the final result in a higher resolution than the one fr om the original image BUT keeping the same proportions |

Could try modifying the cut shape to alternative shapes.

SpaceRay,
I don't mind if you do variations on this filter, feel free. Your latest example here was especially interesting, for it uses only those parts of the images that are close enough to the colors of the original image. It might be an interesting experiment to blur either the original images or the version that is fed to the threshold component to give more rounded (and not so jagged) edges to the pieces. And it reminded me that we don't have a picture montage filter yet, that is, a larger image made of a multitude of smaller photos/images. |

Do you mean the result of the top left 3 components that gives the source for the great effect? This has been very well thought and well done from ThreeDee and like how it is and I have jusat added two more controls to make the lines curved or change the width a little. Do you mean changing completely it to another different shapes?
Thank for allowing it BUT this thread was done to suggest you if you wanted and like the result and idea to modify your own original filter and be uploaded again to the library so I could use it without breaking the filter and you won´t be loosing the deserved usage rank and merit for making this awesome filter. As said the suggestion would be to just and only change the 9 layers color controls to allow having source images that is a very simple and easy thing to do, although I repeat again that is only if you like it and want to have it in YOUR filter. Perhaps would have been better to have sent you an email asking for it instead before showing it.
Good that you like it and find useful as inspiration for another thing ![]() |
