I really like this filter.
I am wondering why the results are so different fr om the preview. The preview has much more detail wh ereas the same settings on a larger image for example, 3375x4500, will be a blob of color with much fewer detail lines. |

Right, I'm the author of the filter and I've also found this an issue myself. I unfortunately just don't have much time around fixing it... and all I can really say is use "actual size" to see it full scale while you tinker the settings. I just don't think I can do very much given some of the issue rests with how the program behaves. In the mean time, give this version of Dabber a shot. I originally wanted to fix the issue but I couldn't find better ways. I used the edge detector instead to resolve the thickness of the lines + detail issue but since that time I haven't done very much. Some of the controls don't work the same way as the previous version. Now unfortunately, I've probably done something to this filter and I have no idea if it'll open in FilterForge 3. It'll definitely open in 4. Sorry about that. Dabber v0.9.ffxml |

Thank you for your reply. I hope to do some testing with .9 soon. I have version 4 of FF so that's not a problem. I'm initially surprised by the high level of detail even with the slider all the way to the left.
I like the control for deciding how far out the detail should be seen. I'd add that feature to the normal version, but as you mentioned, the detail is being calculated differently. For now, I'll just experiment with both. ![]() |
