For starters, I'm just gonna drop off a critique. I know you took your time to produce this filter judging fr om the amount of stuff that's happening in this filter. But after peeking through, I'm failing to understand some of the structure you've decided on. I'm not saying it's bad or anything, I'm just thinking this objectively through.
When you were constructing this filter, were you referencing scientific research, a photoshop tutorial, or a photoshop action, or some form of idea you had?
In the case with dealing with "HDR" is it the look you were going for? Or did you intend to process an HDR image file with the filter?
As far as I used this filter, I consider it a rather slow filter. One of the reasons being that there's a lot of bit-map processing, also a bunch of blends here and there. I strongly recommend optimizing the filter wh ere possible. I can help with that sort of matter.
Just a note, I drop off critique when possible provided a lot of people don't really give feedback here. I unfortunately think the FilterForge library has a lot of fantastic filters that can be improved upon, perhaps through some form of understanding or some critique like this. While I understand people might be beginners, it wouldn't be fair to treat a particular filter differently. So I thought I'd take some time to discuss my perspective about this particular filter.

Yes, a few examples with the types of photos the filter is meant to be used with and how, with before and after images and some instructions, would be very helpful. Looking at the default lifesaver image, you have no idea whether this is going to improve or worsen the look of your photos.
