WOW!! Finally this is available! Who else would be able to make an awesome 3D cube like this than ThreeDee who is expert in this kind of things

Very good the image position on each side and the transparency

Like it much and what is really surprising is that you can ROTATE it in 3D space!!!

Congratulations for this amazing work

Very beautiful filter.
I like the effect of partial transparency: it gives even more 3D feeling. smile;)

How do we "unload" the built in preview images from the cube?

I will try to see if I can modify this filter to have one image on each of the 6 sides

I have seen that the sides of the cube are all repeating the same image that is loaded through the file menu, so to change the built in image for your own, you have to go to:

File--> Open image and choose your own

Trying to discover how you have been able to put 2 images on the side of the cubes I have seen that you may have loaded an image into the Cube Face Color

So there is also another alternative if you want to "unload" or remove the built in image

You can go to the menu

File --> New Image

Choose the result size

Click and select Fill color

On the color picker go to the A slider (Below H S B) and put a zero value to make it transparent

That worked - thanks.

The only way I can get my image to appear is to load it through Cube Face Colour. Loading it in Cube Face Background does nothing smile:?:

The "cube face background" shows only when the main image has transparent sections in it. For instance, if you had transparency instead of the green clouds in the above image, you could use another image there.

The filter is not all that developed. It mostly demonstrates the rotatable cube functionality.

As ThreeDee said well, you have to load the image background on the Cube Face Background, and then a image with Transparent background around in the Cube Face color, see how the presets are done and it will be shown

G'day ThreeDee, what an awesome filter. This is just what I need.

Now here's 'ThreeDee's challenge for the day smile:)

Create a version so that the user can upload four images, one for each side of the cube! That will keep you busy for at least half an hour smile:D

Best wishes and keep up the great work.

Paul.

Why only four images? It would be better if it was 6, one for each side of the cube, so you can freely rotate the cube and there would be always a different image on each side

Finally got to play around with this one ThreeDee....Excellent work as always... smile:pimp:

I started to use this for some experiments instead of the cube I did many years ago.....

nice work CFandM, like the menger sponger image, is it done in FF?

i have seen inside the filter if it could be changed for adding one image for each side, but I do not understand how it works, as all seems to be based on only one image and not prepared for multiple source images.

CFandM, Good that you can be able to make these good 3D complex shapes and with that good lighting too

WOW! This is very good and well done, this remembers me your other similar filter Sierpinsky City by CFandM but now is even better and more awesome, well done.

I have seen that there is no way to see 4 images at the same time, you will only see 3 images

Well I have been able to make a version that is able to use 3 different images (each one is copied to the opposing side) and will see if I can make it to have 6 different images. Will put the filter when I make it right. Also you will be able to make each border different if wanted

here is an example

Thanks paulcopeland

here is below the filter with 3 images

By the way, You may want perhaps also see this other 3 images cube that was done much time ago, although is not rotatable, but is able to be multiplied and have many cubes together

3D cube in Q*Bert style

Is included also the filters on page 1 and 2

After 8 years of this awesome and amazing unique and clever filter, and thanks to Rachel Duim remembering it to me here, I have thought than now that FF has animation, this cube could be finally be true and have real rotation and move

CAN THIS THREEDEE ROTATED CUBE BE ANIMATED?

The answer is YES, it was not as easy as I thought to replace the rotation component, but after thinking about how the remapping was done, I tried to simulate it in some way with the normalized time component, and after some testing it finally WORKS and the dream of ThreeDee of having real rotating cubes is now possible in FF Studio

and here below is the proof of it for you to try yourself the modified filter using the original one image filter from Threedee

BUT NO 360 DEGREES ROTATION YET
I have not being able to make it render a full 360 degree rotation, so I will have to make more tests, as increasing the frames does not increase the amount of rotation. Maybe the original filter was not made for making a full 360 degrees because was done for a FIXED image to be shown and was not needed.

Will make another one with the modified version I made with multiple images

Is this the animation of 360 degrees you are looking for?

YES!! It seems that this rotates 360° correctly, how you have done It ? I am sorry that I still I am learning how the procedural animation works

ANIMATED ROTATION IN X AND Z AXIS?

I wonder if It could also maybe be able to make It rotate also in X and Z Axis , It would be really great

First, the filter is fixed in X and Z, so no rotation in those axis.

All I did to the original filter is swap out the Rotation slider control with Normalized Time. I made sure the mapping to the 3 components it attaches have the same mappings as the original. The original filter does support full 360 degree rotation.

I've attached it here in FF13.
