I set out to create a filter that would "metalize" vector-based lace after seeing the effect using Kochubey's Metalizer. This isn't that filter!

Using the included preview images provided a lot of open area, so I decided to include the ability to add patterns to the background. There are actually twelve background options, including the ability to use an image for the background pattern. The pattern is only added to the height input image and has no effect without the background color also applied.

Here is an explanation of the filter controls.

Color Tint: Controls the color overlay for the filter

Color Strength: Controls the opacity of the color overlay

Invert Image Base: Subtle change to the result makes the effect look concave instead of convex.

Smoothness: Controls the amount of blur applied to the image. The lower the value, the finer the resulting image details.

Reflective Blur: Works together with Metallic Strength to provide a shiny "surface" appearance. In most cases, both settings will be set to the maximum.

Image Overlay: Controls the opacity of the original image blended over the top of the processed image to restore some of the original color.

Bkgd Color Opacity: This control should be set to "0" to retain the transparency of the original image. Any setting for this control will allow the background pattern to work, the higher the setting, the more obvious the pattern effect.

The following options control the background patterns and work in conjunction with the Bkgd Color Opacity. Without a background color, background patterns will not affect the final image.
Use Bkgd Patterns: Switches the pattern output "on" when checked.

Pattern Select: There are 12 patterns to choose from, 11 using noise components. Choose "12" to use an image of your choice.

Pattern Size: Controls inputs of noise components to vary resulting pattern size. Does not vary size of patterns without size altering inputs.

Bkgd Pattern Opacity: Controls the opacity of the pattern.

12) Image Pattern: Choose an image for the background pattern.

By the way, I was successful in creating a separate filter just for lacy images. It's called Alpha Lace Metalique and I submitted it shortly after this filter was approved.

Just for fun, I used a test render from last month and created an example image. The first instance of the tree is a dark gold Color Tint at 100% Color Strength. Smoothness, Reflective Blur and Metallic Strength are also set to 100%.

The second instance of the tree has only one setting changed. Invert Image Base is selected.

The third instance of the tree has Invert Image Base selected and Image Overlay set to 100%.

Anyway, I hope some of you will find this filter fun and helpful. smile:)
