I kinda of cheated on these a bit by using this filter in FF5 and using the new components for coloring.. smile;) smile:) But these are still examples from this filter. smile;) smile:)

Nice smile:) Especially like the last one. I am working on the next variation with user defined color maps, possibly other color variations and inside coloring. Dare I ask how you did this in FF5? Modulo? Which components? New color formula? smile;)

Yep I used the Modulo with a gamma inbetween the fractal and the Modulo component...You can control the ramp amount this way......I also changed the color to just profile gradients.......

Brilliant smile:D I hope you don't mind, I may incorporate some of your ideas. I'll probably think long term on another Mandelbrot just for 5.0 and start playing with it. For now I'll continue to work on my next version for FF 4. Ah, I've seen the color look you are getting in Frugal Fractals etc etc. Profile gradients, a very good idea. Here's a teaser, haven't changed the color maps yet, but here is in the inside of the Mandelbrot with the distance estimator.

The previous 2 images are from a test version of the filter that is not released. When Filter Forge 5 comes out I may put together a different version of Mandelbrot with this "feature".

How I did it:

The output is a combination of a Mandelbrot and input image as follows:
Hue - taken from Mandelbrot
Saturation - taken from Mandelbrot
Lightness - taken from input image

If you are interested in this version, let me know via email and I will email it to you as long as you promise not to release the filter. The one downside, this filter does not work well if the input image is too light or has no contrast. I consider the test filter NOT ready for release, but fun to play with.

I had missed this real beauty and is really very well done. Is really interesting how to make this kind of fractals in FF

Also is great that you are able to use mapscript to make this possible

I wonder if this could be modified to make an orbital trapping with images as seen here that Sphinx showed here in this other thread

Thanks Space Ray. The current modifications I'm making allow the color from one image to be dropped in to a fractal. I may go further with it, I will look at Sphinx's code and go from there.
