Oh, this is a great and interesting idea, and apart from the use you have made it for, I can also think of filling each of the polygon parts with different colors and patterns to make a collage (to be done in another graphic software and not in FF) and is a pity that FF does not have any kind of fill component.

And also have thought that in the same way as above suggested, have the square duplicated 2 (2 x 2) or 3 (3x3) times to make a bigger square, and then paint each different polygon and they would join together.

I have been testing this kind of geometric lines shapes, and will see how it may work with a loop so it would rotate and multiply it

And this is an example of using the filter to create a composite. The armature is not part of the final image, it's on it's own layer in PhotoShop.
