I've taken a crack at a version of this that does a multitude of asteroids, with the option to provide a grayscale map to control size and placement. Two example maps are hard coded, for demo purposes. Here's an example using a built-in Lionfish source.

I'm not sure if this is ready for the library, since there's no way to do sibling shadowing. The clustering is all done in bombers, so there's no way to add in shadows automatically. Short of painting shadows by hand, I don't think realistic lighting is possible.

Anyway, here's the .ffxml for those who'd like it the way it is currently.
