Yes, I have been trying to do the same as you and found these two filter useful, and I have nearly finished a filter that uses the Many circles one that is the better option but regrettably did not have time to finish it yet

Yes, I know, that at first is not so easy to understand how it works, but I did expand and separate the parts in groups and made it easier to find out how it works, also by replacing things. Sorry, I can not explain here how it works, but I can finish my filter you would see how I replaced the circles with the flowers, although my flowers are not at all as nice as your flowers.

In the example below you can see that there are less overlapping of the flowers and are much more ordered in equal distances
