Hi, I have just discovered this filter, and I think it may be very good and interesting, and is really clever and well done

Quote
Color Emphasis increases the "weighting" on the color channels (a and b of Lab color) over lightiness when picking the colors that Match Color.

Color Threshold determines the size of the color range. Smaller values return a large color range, higher values return a small color range.

Match Color 1 & 2 are best determined by using an eyedropper tool.

As far as I understand it you have the option to change 2 groups or range of colors at the same time

INSTRUCTIONS TO USE THIS FILTER CORRECTLY as far as I understand it

Here are the steps I think are correct to use it

1 - Activate and check the "Mask Only" checkbox to be able to see only the selected color range easily extracted from source image

2 - For start it may be recommended to use Color emphasis = 100 and Color Threshold = 0 as starting point and then modify them

3 - Go to the eyedropper tool icon ( top center ) and then click on the point you want to sel ect the color you want to modify, and then write somewhere the RGB values (regrettably FF does not allow to COPY this value to the color picker)
3.1 Alternatively instead of this you can select directly in the color picker of Match color the nearest and closer color that will cover most of the range of colors you want to select,

4 - Go to Match Color 1 and put the RGB values on the color picker window or do as told on 2.1

5 - Modify if needed the Color emphasis and Color Threshold values so you can select exactly the range of additional colors you want to include,

6 - Use the Mask color to modify the colors of the selected range

7 - If wanted and needed you can modify then the saturation and lightness

8 - If you want to modify another different range of colors, then activate "2 Colors matching" and repeat again fr om 2 to 6.

9 - Uncheck the the "Mask Only" checkbox to be able to see all the image

BUT WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU WANT TO MODIFY MORE THAN TWO RANGES OF COLORS?

For example

In this image there are 4 main color ranges

In Preset 6 is shown that you can change 2 of them

But if you want to ALSO modify the White and the yellow?

Should I save the image and load it back and change the other two colors?

And you may have 5 or 6 colors to change? do it a third time?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please, can you be so kind to also see if it would be possible to do this shown in this thread below

Would be possible to SWAP individual range colors with your own ones?

Thanks very much for any possible help

best wishes and that you can keep creating interesting and useful filters that are well done

Wow, I haven't thought about this filter in a while. The short answer: yes, run it multiple times if you need to change more than 2 ranges of colors. The match colors need to be far enough apart if you run multiple passes. The filter was originally intended for "fall colors", changing a couple of different shades of green to fall colors: yellow, orange, red. Took a quick look at the SWAP color thread, it explains how I originally used computed "color" distances from the image to come up with a match. I have just moved and would provide a variation with more colors, but for now I will leave this as an exercise for someone else...

UPDATE: tested the filter, one thing the filter can not do is add "color" to unsaturated areas. Which makes sense, the filter is a color changer, not a color "adder'. The white in the flower can be changed to various shades of grey with Mask Lightness. Adding color in the filter is something I may look at in the future...
