This looks beautiful however the render does not start for me. I havea 4 core cpu, maybe it's not enough?

My apologies for the late response. It's been a while since I visited the forum. I loaded Cliff Lab a few minutes ago and am waiting to see if it renders for me, and how long it takes. I really don't remember it being this slow.
...okay, it is rendering now. It finished while I looked up my system specs:
It might make a difference with this filter. Have you continued to have problems getting it to render? I'll look at the graph and see if there's anything I can do to optimize it, or at least add a draft or preview mode. Edit: After examining the filter, I don't think I can improve the performance without ruining it. It relies on bitmap-based components like Smudge and High Pass to create the rock. I might be able to bypass one, but not all, and each one adds to the render time so it doesn't help to bypass that one by itself. I'm truly sorry if this means you will be unable to use this filter on your current system. |

This may be because it is still processing until it start showing the first part What is the output size that you have configured for test it? because this is very important and essential to know the time it takes to render and when starts to render. You can try to use 600x600 to see the speed at how it renders, so you can see if it is only the time taken to render or any other thing Also look in the rendering options that you have activated the Multithreading so it uses all the 4 cores - Go to Tools menu--> Options --> choose Rendering tab and check that is using all the available cores rendering options
Please, can you be so kind to tell how much time does it take for you to render at for example 1024 x 1024 ? It is shown on the top left "Rendering Complete: elapsed time ..." Thanks |

Since it looks like you were asking me rather than patrizza, I ran through a render at 1024x1024 and it took 16 minutes and 7 seconds. Turns out I'm set up to render on all cores, BTW. Never knew to check on that before. Thanks for pointing out where that option was! As I said before, I really thought Cliff Lab worked faster, although I usually only use it when I'm working on it in the editor, so most of the rendering times I remember are just for the component I was editing. By comparison, Cliff Lab II is proving even slower. Hopefully it's not too slow to submit to the Library! |
