I think you did a lot more than just change a color on one of his filters.

I was kidding - of course I would not do that.

I was skeptical. I still wonder what the heck people are doing with them.
Thanks for the vote of confidence.

My head is so into Maya right now - filters seem a million miles away. I will have to stop and recalibrate. Maya is just so awesome - mind boggling really. Have you checked it out ahimsa? The breadth is so unbelievable that I still have not made it through the introduction after more than a month of hard work. smile:D smile:D

No, I haven't. Are you using a demo? How long is it good for? I know you said it all over a month ago, but I forget things fast.

Yes, it's called Maya PLE (personal learning edition) it a current full blown copy with no time restrictions but it is watermarked. I don't mind that at all, in fact I prefer a watermarked version over a timed one. My mouth still drops open when I use it just from the sheer awesomeness of it. smile:D

Have you done any compositing or rotoscoping? I would love to get After Effects but it will probably be almost a year before I need it.

Oh, I think I will like it then too.

The Ozone is an atmosphere plugin for Maya and a few other programs.

Vue is a lot like Bryce, but better.

compositing or rotoscoping

I don't know what those are.

Everything in Maya is a node - even cameras and lights. When you change an lens on a camera, you change a node. When you open a scene in Maya you are looking *through* a node.
Compositing is the green screen stuff where you put people with dinosaurs. Rotoscoping is a little like motion capture where you animate using a real characters.

This sounds very interesting.

Maybe this is where I should be spending my time instead of making filters that never get HUs. It could be interesting to see what I could do with Maya.

I would still post here if for no other reason than to torment everyone. smile:dgrin:

But I haven't been enjoying making filters lately and they don't get HUs, so why not try something that would be far more rewarding. smile:-p

MySpace.com

I don't do MySpace. I normally just drop by DAZ, drop by here, talk to Hans, and play with one of my programs. I'm normally not all that social, but there are some very nice people here that I enjoy being with. smile:)

Sorry Carl,I realize now that your post was meant to be sympathetic not empathetic.
I can be pretty bone-headed.
