I like the fold lines and wrinkles options, good details. I know there's a couple other blueprint filters, but this one is looking good, and may have more/different detail. Good stuff, me likes. smile:)

interesting filter. might be interesting to combine this one with sheri's 'technical drawing' one.

I like the slightly "dirty" look this one has. Looks like there's some mottling over the surface in some of the presets — that sort of noise always goes down well with me. *downloads*

Make it seem like it is on paper so it's realistic, such as crumpled effects etc and add an option for a colored border.

Hi Torley - after reading your comment I decided to do this one:

If it does well I owe it all to you smile:D

Thanks

Hi Darth Axel 007 - thanks for the suggestions. I don't know how to crumple paper yet. I tried it once but just by using CS2 not FF and it didn't go very well. There is a slider for a macro level distortion that is supposed to make it look like it is rippled but it could be better. smile:)

David I'm so proud! smile:D smile:D smile:D Thanks for posting it. I want to mention that, on non-square images, if you set the border width to zero it will eliminate that vertical region of lighter tones.
It just occurred to me that I may be able to get better performance from my edge detector if I add a contrast component. Keep an eye out for an update.

that vertical region of lighter tones

I kinda liked it 'cause it looks like the print machine is running out of ammonia.

Now that you mention it I agree. Maybe I should add controls for that. smile:?:

BTW, the update has been submitted.

Thanks! smile:D

The oversize copier (not blueprint, just black ink, but blueprint sized) at Kinkos always had those vertical streaks in it ironically enough. Those machines were lame, but way cheaper than real blueprint copiers I guess.

I need to find the morphing scroll and make a blueprint on it with this and add a coffee stain. This will be fun.

Just have to remember which site has that scroll. smile:D

I replaced something like twenty components with four. So now it works better and faster. smile:)

I may be the only one that thinks average is successful. I don't think this one will ever go low or high - it has found its level.

One of the blueprint filters on FF is bound to go HU eventually, I'd bet a fiver one does by this time next year, and there's no reason it couldn't be this one eh. smile:)

Hehe it will be so nice to have ff not black out the screen from render overload - 8 days to go but who's counting smile;)

----It's not that slow really, and you could try replacing the Chaffs with Perlin Noise, and maybe just skip the Scan Lines Density control and lose that Perlin Noise component. Those 2 changes would probably speed it up 20% or more, and if you tweaked the Perlin Noise (replacement for the Chaffs) the whole thing would probably look 95% the same as it does now. smile:)

Those sound like good ideas. I’m not as enamored by it as I was when I made it so it would be a good time to take a detached look at it. Maybe I can go through it this weekend.

Thanks smile:)

Hey Carl or Steve - or anyone else that might have an opinion...

A friend of mine is asking for a recommendation for a low cost vector
program for doing some blanket designs. She does not want something as
complicated or expensive as AI but that is the only one I know about.
Does anyone know of a low cost alternative to AI?

I found this:
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellit...0981051929

but at a thousand bucks, it's hardly low cost.

Paint.Net and/or Gimp are both free and might do it for her......but you have to install Framework.Net 2 first.....which is also free....

Thanks Steve, I have not downloaded them but according to Wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paint.NET
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIMP

they both look like bit pushers - she is needing a vector app. My interpretation of their use may be incorrect so let me know if I missed something.
I will keep looking around. I wonder what ever happened to Freehand? I will check to see if that one still exists.
Thank you smile:)

It seems Adobe bought Freehand years ago. It is still sold but not supported or updated. I gave her this link as one possibility:

Sorry Ron, I read that too fast and misplaced the "vector" part smile;) smile:)

If interested in fills, there's another freebee called "Texture Maker" that's pretty good.....

----I actually kind of like the original version better overall looks-wise and range of looks-wise, ideally, you could come up with a faster version 1.5, that would combine what you did with V2, with the original version only sped up a hair. It's no big deal, but there's no reason you can't sculpt the best blueprint filter on FF eh, someone is going to. smile:)

Hey me too! I thought it was just me though. I think you're right about needing to get the old look back - maybe I can do it with a levels node out of the edge detection components.
That's the problem with coming back to an old one. It is difficult for me to get my head totally back inside the process. Sometimes it seems like nodes don't do anything at all then I find out later they had an important role.
Thanks a lot. smile:)
