Thanks ahimsa! If you look closely at the results you will notice the very rich but subtle interaction between the two layers of noise. If you download the simple version you can just click on variations to generate new patterns and about every third one is excellent - as long as you cycle through modes. Once you find a nice one the settings can be loaded into the surface version for rendering.
Here is the way I found that works well:
Click on variations
Try all three modes
Try the mono/color scheme
Then when you find one you like:
Set the scale
Set the color
Thanks for taking a look,
Ron @ronviers

Is there a fast way to load the settings and without it trying to resave the filter?
This version is slow rendering like a few of mine. Wonder if there is a way for me to do a simple version one to go with them and have them work.

I don't know of an easy way. I intentionally tried to keep the number of controls to a minimum but that was all I could think of. A print screen of the simple settings would help. There may be a way to pipe parameters in and out but I don't know of it.
Good luck @ronviers

One thing I could have done is keep the controls for each version in the same locations. I will fix that with an update. I will also add a lot more presets. @ronviers

I have noticed if you use any noise besides perlin in a surfaced texture it is a little bit slow. Just comes with the nature of stone distort, ect. Nice filter, would love the ability/switch to have the threshold of the image part of the surface texture. Like a white swirly outline of the life saver, just incase.

Thanks Steve,
I would like to see what you do with it but I know that is probably not practical. Have you ever seen one of your filters used somewhere like a magazine or a movie?

Thanks Redcap,
I originally had the roughness control broke out for the user because it added so many lovely combinations (if you don't believe me try it) but it was so slow that I removed it. In retrospect I think it gives the filter a sharper focus and makes it easier for the artist or designer to know if this is the filter they need.
Thanks for checking it out @ronviers

Just as you entitled it.....thinking of using them for some backgrounds.....and also thinking that I could use them for new types of design fills....

No, but it would be neat to see " texture and artistic effects by FilterForge's StevieJ" rolling in the credits of a major motion picture Steve

Thanks StevieJ! This one has really evolved over time. This iteration is faster but has an entirely new look. I hope users find it a little more appealing than the previous release.
Thanks for checking it out. @ronviers
