definitely more metallic! that third one, with just a touch more of a coppery color, could easily pass as a copper etching.

ok, i'm gonna start narrowing my crititques down a bit here, steve. so, prepare
![]() this one doesnt seem best suited for the flowers. there are some qualities there that i like, but your other filter seems much better for the flowers. the landscapes are quite good here. there is a nice, etched metal quality to them. #'s 1, 3, 4 and 5 work very well. 6, i'd tone down a bit. it seems a bit 'blown out', flat and not as edgy as the others. 5 is very good. i like that grainy, high color feel. and i like parts of #1 also, like the saxophone part. now, all of this is my opinion only. period. i'd like to see you branch out a bit. a number of your filters are starting to have a sort of same quality to them. i think you're also going to find a limited reception on some of these. i find on retouchpro that there's a lot of traditional type photo artists that want to simulate other, more traditional art styles, but that arent that ...comfortable... with some of the newer styles or with the more 'flamboyant' type filters. i do like your filters, especially that one you recently posted that i raved about. but i'd like to see you break the mold a bit on what you're currently doing. and again, this is just me. so, tell me to go shove it or whatever you wish. it's just one opinion and there are over 6 billion more out there ![]() If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

I should probably explain what I'm doing.... I've been making these filters for my own fine art digital work.....and I have been submitting some of my basic filters as kind of a little fun thing to do as I go along. It would still be worthwhile to do it if only one person liked them....
![]() Not many (except for you) are saying much about my filters, but someone is downloading them....and a few have now become "high usage" filters. Things like this have contributed to my continued submission of filters. It would make my day to have one chosen as an 'Editor's Pick', but hey, the challenge is still there ![]() Good or bad, I appreciate all of your comments ![]() PS.... I have been posting test images just to illustrate filter capabilities. I don't post any of my fine art works that I sell or plan to sell. To me, they wouldn't be fine art anymore....and my clientel certainly wouldn't buy them if they saw them online..... Steve

steve,
well, that's about the most tactful 'go shove it' i've ever received ![]() it's fine. i like your filters. i'm not even sure i have a high usage one myself. but if you get a wild hair and just feel like stretching off in another direction, i'd be curious to see where you go. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

actually, i went looking through the library last night and i think some of my remarks about the sameness of some of your filters was a bit out of line. i think i was getting a bit confused by the various versions of the same filters. you've got quite an array of filters posted. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

This has sort of a "gold leaf embossed" feel to me; it might look very nice on text, I don't know, I haven't tried it out yet. I think about those books with the special covers that bulge out a little, maybe a children's book... hmmm there's an idea.
I'm enjoying using Filter Forge to create http://torley.com/textures |
