As I was putting this snippet into my hazard stripes filter (big improvement from what I had before smile:D ) I noticed that you didn't have a few features I needed, most notably a way to smooth the edges of the lines. Here's what I came up with after a little bit of tinkering.

I didn't try it on non-square images or anything fancy like that, so I'm not sure if it addresses any issues you might have fixed in your version

Actually if you look at the stripe style slider its exactly for that soft smooth etc

the simplest method to get exactly the type gradient you need is to plug a curve into a gradient and then plug that gradient into the shape input
lets all whine for a wine port

i prefer the impulse plateau method.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
