Here's an actual Hubble image of the Orion Nebula:
http://www.sciencemusings.com/blog/images/OrionNeb.jpg That's what I'm shooting for in this filter. I think what I have so far is not bad, but I need a more smoky layer with perhaps a different color. Also, some bright stars should appear in front of the nebula. I just did a filter search on "Nebula" and there are a bunch. Here's my take on some of them: Celestia http://www.filterforge.com/filters/2271.html Bizzare and wonderful Nebula01 http://www.filterforge.com/filters/396.html Beautiful, although the patterns have only one color and there are no stars. Still, this one comes fairly close to Hubble-ness! Night Sky http://www.filterforge.com/filters/2999.html No stars and only faint clouds, but the clouds look nice and wispy. Stars and Clouds at Night http://www.filterforge.com/filters/1361.html Lovely and varied, and it has stars. Just one color. Stars & Nebula http://www.filterforge.com/filters/3150.html Gorgeous and vivid, very realistic. However the rich Orion type nebula isn't really this type either. Nebula Night Sky http://www.filterforge.com/filters/2957.html Wow! Now that's what I'm talking 'bout! It has the wispyness but with structure. This concept mixed with mine could provide a Hubble-clone. SpaceGen http://www.filterforge.com/filters/1388.html Also wispy and with some structure, although a different structure than Nebula Night Sky. I just realized I didn't put the author's names in above; oh, well. You'll see them when go visit the pages. Nebula Night Sky comes closest to having what I need to add to make mine better. Ain't nothing like the real thing though ![]() |
