It's a pity that such a nice texture is on low usage.

Dunno, but maybe the bump map could use a tiny little bit of the wood grainyness in it for the 3D guys' enjoyment... smile8)

Funny I downloaded that last week thinking the same thing Dilla. Although have been busy with other things that haven't had much of a chance to make many textures with it. Looks cool though smile:D

i think changing the default texture would help, too. it's a bit too shiny/glossy for a wood or basket type. #3 or 4 would be better. it also suffers from a lack of commonality, meaning, how often do you need a basket texture?

i agree, though. it's well done. constantin always does quality filters.

The current filter replaced the previous filter named "Plastic Basket", which was not popular. So, it's not a real rate.

Yes, agreed. There are many another "small details" which can make it looking much better. I have them as snippets at this time and hope to upgrade it asap.

D'U propose to organize a public opinion poll with the question:

"How often do you need a basket texture?" smile:D

Would be interesting to know. Or those hundreads downloads are only resellers? smile:D

wow, them two textures look well sweet. Very realistic, I would say a HU would happen with them.

wouldn't surprise me, although even though I am setting up a texture shop in SL I'm not sure about using filters made by other people, unless I have changed them at least 50% from the original. Which so far hasn't happened (been too busy having fun making my own filters smile;)). OR unless they aren't texture filters but filters that change how a texture appears them I don't mind using because they enhance a texture you have already created.

----It's old skool, an animated .gif smile:p I used to use PSP to make them, not sure if they are still supported these days though. Dunno about 'seamless morphing', you can take videos and turn them into little animated .gifs though, so if you went that route and exported say an .avi as a .gif with Vegas or something, then it should be as seamless as the video is.

Yes, like jffe said, it's animated GIF created in "ImageReady" (by Adobe).

I'm using Adobe products like "ImageReady", "Premiere", "AfterEffects", if need quality. Scripts and "Effects" for them can be created manually, be modified or taken from a different Net sources. There are also a lot of plugins for these programs written by different teams which can be very useful and make cool transitions.

3D software also can be used here.

If don't need a high quality, there are hundreads of different programs which can be used and the nearest is "Windows Movie Maker" - standard Windows program. Very easy in use, good collection of effects (can be expanded), with the main editing tools.

As a notice can add - transitions greatly increase file's size, what can be a problem in some cases (limit for an image size on a forum, slow page downloading and so on), so the question is - where do You plan to use it?

P.S.
This is one of my wishes for the FF V2 - animation instruments and possibility to save results in the most popular formats like: avi, gif, scr, swf,...

animated gifs are quite still around. and i used psp's animation shop 3 when i do one. combined with psp for setting up and exporting, animation shop works great.

and steve, check out 'smart morph'. it's a freebie, or was. might still be. works great and easy to use. it's a true morpher and not a frames trick.

also, take a look at 'virtual dub' on sourceforge. this is a great little video editor.

i also use Pinnacle's studio version 9 for making slideshows. great little program but not a freebie.

i've been collecting and putting together a little sight and sound studio, particularly if it's free and i may do a blog entry over on retouchpro about this. there are some amazing freebies out there. i'll be jffe knows some more too.

----I'm kinda out of the freebies scene really, too much garbage, or half-arsed stuff at least (or just stuff with limitations that keep it from being used in any kind of efficient way). But for a beginner, or even mid level hobbyist there are lots of free apps out there to mess with these days. Half or more of the reason to pay for (for me to pay for at least) new/different tools (software or otherwise), is better workflow. New features can be good, don't get me wrong, but I look at workflow more than anything now = does it help me get whatever idea I have out faster or more completely, or is it just for tweaking and dorking around with.
----I haven't found much (if any) free graphics stuff lately that could be used to any real degree professionally. Genetica 3 was my last purchase, and I just grabbed that to get the early discount, since it may become more useful in V3 here (I currently don't use it at all really, and have spent maybe 12-18 hours total with it so far). So my own standards for graphics apps have gotten rather high/snobby the past couple years ha-ha, but there's always stuff out there if you don't mind googling for 3-4 hours at a time and exploring every cyber-alley, that's how I found FF back in the day smile:p
----But yeah, all that said, if you're into audio and looking for freeware, you can fill your hard drive by searching K-v-R http://www.kvraudio.com/get.php

thanks, jffe. i'm a bit lost, but i sorta think i understand most of that. vst is a set of agreements or something by some body of 'authorities'? yes, no? and there are then programs that comply to those standards and that of those, only ones with an open source sdk for plugins and such are on that site? lol. terminology, my bane.

i have cakewalk, or at least one version of it and i have audacity, both of which seem to comply with kvr's standards. so, will some or all of those plugins work in my programs? i'm confused.

lol. I wasn't fishing for compliments. smile:D Just wanted to show on the real example that the LU filters can have the "second life" as all of Us have some "ugly ducklings" in the added works. I have one less... smile:D And not without Your help of course smile;)

Thanks again.

shld have stopped at 2 v5. 2 v6 is raised too much for basket weave. looks great for inlay or raised checkerboard, but not a weave any more.

2 v5 is incredible as a weave, though. absolutely brilliant!
