| I thought this one looked kinda cool too. Tough to tell if it's much different from the other 500 or so tracer/outline type filters, but this one looks good cept for the always black background eh. |
Y'know I just couldn't make up my mind what to do with the background. Do you want to be able to change out the background color? Alpha background? Pattern? I experimented with putting some realistic bricks back there, but I found that while the results I was getting were cool, they weren't exactly what I was looking for. I think I'll save that one for a back-reflected neon filter. (What I mean by "back-reflected neon" is signs that hide neon tubes behind a black metal silhouette, so all you see is the colored light illuminating the brick behind it, around the edges. It's very pretty. We have a number of shops that use signs like that in Austin, TX.)
If there's interest in it, I have a variant on this filter currently under the working title "Tronify" that uses a dark, tinted version of the source image behind the neon. I tried it out, because my first preset reminds me a lot of the glow effects in the movie "Tron." I haven't submitted it mostly because I'm not really satisfied with it yet.
