Hey Ron smile:)

Of course I like the looks of them.....I'm a dedicated metalhead!!! smile;) smile:D

No offense, but I think you are severely diluting out the usage of your own filters by having way too many close variants of the same thing.....which could all be easily combined into one filter towards getting a high usage filter. You want high usage rankings on your filters, right??? smile:|

The other problem you might encounter is that by diluting out the usage on all your filters, they will all end up with the "kiss of death" low usage ranking.....users will attach a stigma to everything you do as being "crap".....and end up avoiding your filters.....even if they are spectacular.....

I'm just suggesting that you might want to consider changing your approach to all this.....because it seems to me like a crying shame that you are using all that time and energy to self-sabotage yourself.....

Again, I don't mean any offense or to put your work down in any way......I'm just trying to help..... smile:)

Hey Stevie, smile:)

Good to hear from you! smile;)

Thanks for your kind words.Iam metal head also I guess, HA. I have gotten a little carried away it might seem..HA. So much to do, so little time. I have been praying
that others would love the look & I would get lots of downloads. I have been doing better, need lots more. You are right though Steve. I will be ending this series soon. Will be starting a new look. smile;)

Thanks again,
Ron

Well, that's not the problem.....because you obviously have an eye for what looks good..... smile8)

You do know that getting downloads is not the same as getting usage statistics, right??? You can pile up all the downloads in the world on your filters.....but it doesn't mean anything towards piling up usage statistics and getting high usage rankings.....especially if you have "spread out" usage on a bunch of similar filters.....which is why I suggested that you combine your similar filters to "concentrate" usage towards a high usage ranking..... smile;) smile:)

I say this because I did the same thing as you.....and learned the hard way smile;) I've gone back and deleted about 75 filters so far.....and I still have alot more "housecleaning" to do towards cleaning up the mess that I made from my young and foolish filtermaking days..... smile;) smile:D LOL.....

One thing is for sure......you are having alot of fun with it......and got addicted the same way that I did..... smile;) smile:)

Best!!!
Steve

and the other thing is, you're right, ronjonnie, you ARE getting better. it shows. i was looking at one of your filters last night, one of the metal 10 filters. once you get things understood a bit more, it's also going to help to go back and 'clean up' some of those filters. you can pretty much do what you're doing in that filter with about half the number of controls you have and even half of the number of components. that's all just part of the learning curve, so, no worries, but you'll see it as you get more and more proficient smile:)

Evenin, Steve & Craig, smile:) smile:)

I have re read your comments & know you both mean well, tryin to help me and all...Sounds like a good western ..right.HA :

All kidding aside. "You are both right"! smile;) It has been mentioned to me before to use the switch control. smile:?: You both, I know, actually know what you are doing, where I, know I have A LOT to learn! I really must put more into it. I really love Filter Forge! What a SUPER COOL PROGRAM!!!! I wish I didn't have to work, (sigh)...
Anyway, I want to do as you both suggested, I just need to know how. You are both out of my league. I am trying. I keep praying I well get lucky and get a good one! smile;) Any words of wisdom I do truly appreciate.

Thanks to you both, for at least taking the time to help me. smile:)

ah, i hope i didnt imply that your filters werent any good. that was certainly not anything i wanted to communicate. i've frankly been enjoying watching you get better and better. i suppose that does imply that you werent as good as you are now and that there's still a ways to go, but hell, that applies to me too and i'm fairly sure steve would say the same, so, dont worry about it (and ignore jffe smile;) smile:D )

the best advice i can offer is, learn the individual tools and the rest will come easily.

Hi Craig & Betis, smile:) smile:)

No problem Craig, smile;) I took no offense in your comments. Good to hear that my work is improving, smile:) I have put allot into it, many hours on end. I enjoy the rush of coming up with a favorable filter. I will have to learn the individual tools, I know I do need to study more.

Betis, Thank you for your offer of a "Switch Snippet". smile:) I don't know anything about snippets, and not much about the switch, have only messed with it some. "YES" I would appreciate any help, you or any of the F.F. Authors can send my way. Greatly appreciated! smile:) smile:) smile:) smile:)

May God continue to Bless you all, Amen.

Well Ron, the filter explains itself!

Have you looked inside yet? It's very simple.

But if you want I can explain it to you right here.

Each input that goes into the switch component (default or mapped), has a unique ID, 1 though 12. Anyway, the slider controls which input is turned into the output. If you want input1 to be shown, the slider should be at 1. Input2 would be slider 2.

If that doesn't explain it well enough, you could almost think about it as a die. Let's say this die has 12 sides. If side 1 is facing up, side 1 is displayed. Now the bad thing about this example is that dice have a probability factor, but besides that you get my point.

The switch component is used to switch between inputs.
