Enjoy this filter but use it at your own risk.

Got me nervous!

It's a very pretty effect. I would recommend trying to speed things up a bit if possible but I'm guilty of slow filters myself so I can't complain too much smile:D

Overall, nice job- it looks wonderful on my sample pic

Hehe smile:D , well I am not responsible if this agonizing slow filter does something to your pc.
I turned most of the detail settings down, in the hopes of speeding it up a bit, to no avail.

Thanks for the sample pic, looks lovely!

Looks fantastic -- we're seriously tempted to give this an Editor's Pick. However, there are a couple of things that could definitely be improved:

First, consider turning "Preserve Color" on in the Sharpen component -- this would subdue oversaturated colors on high sharpen amounts.

Second, the rendering speed is slow even on a modern quad-core machine. I've looked inside the filter and frankly it's a mess -- no doubt it could benefit from some streamlining.

And third, I believe the controls can be tightened up as well -- the randomizer, when set to High, sometimes (thankfully not very often) produces really weird results.

Other than that, great work -- we'll be happy to promote it to EP when it's updated.

Apple, you don't have to name the updates the way you did (Grunge Art_upd_1) -- the Filter Library does versioning automatically, and it is preferred to leave the name as it was, "Grunge Art". Also, the Filter Library has no problem dealing with spaces, so you don't have to use the underscore characters.

Also, we consider the older pre-update look to be better (to be honest, we don't think the new look is EP-worthy) -- perhaps something important was lost during the streamlining.

How about this: you revert the filter back to the old version, fix the Preserve color thing in the Sharpen component, correct the name to Grunge Art, and resubmit it -- and we give it an EP?
