I like V2 - no questions!
And very good speed. |

actually I just resubmitted with no 2 as lead
![]() I had the filter rejected two times because it was too slow, but I didn't feel that I could sacrifice anything, so I added a little optimization trick which uses blurs (!) to speed up rendering (only works for rather low frequency renderings) - thats why you see a slow first row rendering (the bitmap buffers need to render internally). I just checked in a snippet that describes this method.. |

Strange, but very cool filter. I like that default preset the best. Looks like some sort of putty.

Very cool - blur speeding it up I'll have to have a look at that

Beautiful filter! It renders reasonably fast too.
But seriously, I don't mind waiting a bit to see something this cool render out. I'm going to try it's bump map in Zbrush ![]() |

ah, editor's pick. well deserved!
folks, this one is an extremely good one to study for how to do lighting and textures. this is as near to photorealistic of any filter i've seen in the library...ANY! If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

This is more of a filter making question, but it's relevant to this specific filter... I think
![]() I'm curious, if someone wanted to have double pairs of stitches running close together, how would you go about that? I was looking at where perlin noise was plugged into profile gradient, hoping I could offset a phase of the gradient a little bit, then blend them back together, but no luck on getting an offset. I'm trying to make double stitching that is often found on upholstery or jeans ![]() Elp... Yelp... Help ![]() |

Do you have a sample pic? Also check out this my Winding Trace as it uses the same concept, but in a more customizable fashion (basically it "winds" everything you feed it)

Nice, reminds me of the cushions filter but with it's own style and take on that theme.

Conniekat,
I get the idea now.. the winding method will not make the strings dive down into the material, it will only wind the string composite strings them selves. But it looks like you're on track there.. I'd first make a nice fine winding string, and then multiply it with a repeating gradient mapped with an inverted peak curve (the impulse curve should work well here), which very much looks like you're doing here.. |
