That kind of randomness/detail/decay, would be great as part of a structured filter. All by itself, it's more like 'what-if', or it just means 10 extra steps to make it into something. Ie = use this kind of look as the texture/surface of a filter (one with a known shape/design) and that'd be almost instant HU. But then, that's really the tougher part, finding the underlying structure that a texture can go on to make it snap and sizzle eh.
