the pattern shape is adding that crosshair? how odd.
and you're welcome. i dont mind too much, as long as someone isnt taking me for granted. i do tend to get ideas or learn something when i tear into someone else's filter, plus i do enjoy making some mods. so, it's not much of a bother btw, i definitely like the tighter grain ones. much cleaner and you dont see too many softwood inlays, anyways. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

I am using the high pass to bevel the edges of the inlay.
The pattern shapes grain is easier to see on this one. Notice how the run of the grain conforms to the pattern. ![]() @ronviers |

The cross hair is the bevel that would be there if the inlays were cut to meet at the center.

I gave the shields a try but so far they really suck. Way to awful to post a sample. @ronviers |

I was hoping to make it look like someone had gotten down on their hands and knees and carved the inlay into a floor.
Here is where it is now. inlayH.ffxml @ronviers |

I made a lot of changes. I had to shift the grain from v to h in order to facilitate the bricks component. I also integrated the hard and soft woods into the Grain Definition slider.
I broke out the base planks for separate control - hated to do that but the inlay needed to have a greater range than the base planks. I also had to remove the intense color option because it was incompatible with the color selections of the soft mode. Iow, it required a completely reselecting all the colors. @ronviers |

Midnight was my self-imposed deadline to finish it, and it still needs a ton of tweaking, so I'm putting it aside for a couple of weeks - this time I mean it.

you do come up with some good stuff, ron. and thanks for posting the filter! but, what, i mean, why dont you publish some of these in the library rather than just on the forum? and again, thank you

Thanks Craig.
I enjoy making them but it's just too time consuming to finish them. If I do any finishing it should be updating some of my old filters. Besides, this recent spate of weaves is throwing my gallery all out of whack - they are just so much fun I can't stop making them. @ronviers |

I noticed I made a mistake separating the gradients. Here it is corrected - not saying this is a great method but at least it is what I intended to do. I'm sure there is a faster way of doing this.

I had a snippet for this not long ago but I pulled it because I did not feel comfortable demonstrating how it should be done when I know so little about it. One of these days, I may peek and see how Crapadilla does it.

Take a look at this. I just combined, plugging in several of uberzev's snippets, with Crapadilla's radial mosaic idea, to get this. I only had time to add the outer ring of tiles, so all the center is just grout, but if I had more time I think I could get it working. Each of the radial rows rotates independently.
Maybe in a few weeks I will pick it back up - gotta get back to work. ![]() @ronviers |
