I still like it. Great look on that first preset. Could use these for a futuristic
pipe organ.. smile:D

Thanks, I redid about 1/3 of the inside of that one, and added the standard angelboi shine settings. 100/33.33/100. Those settings would've never occured to me, anymore than using profile grads to make metallic stuff like I got from one of your filters early on. I probably should've credited him in the first filter I used them in huh, well, better late than never, I got those metallic shine settings from an angelboi filter I was looking inside of. smile:D I actually just used the last 2 profile grad modules unchanged from Shadowbox Distortions or whatever it was named, for my first metal filter, I hadda credit that one. Anyways, thanks for checking my filter out, and end of life story ha-ha. smile:)

yup, i like that default preset also. that's one of the best 'polished metal' looks i've seen in an FF filter!

Thanks Kraellin, if you dig the metal textures, I just did a sequel to an earlier one I had made http://www.filterforge.com/filters/1899.html Shameless self promotion I suppose, but I thought it was different/good enough to be made into a seperate filter. Anyways, thanks for the bump. smile:)

Hey Guys,

I have many favorites among the filters you guys have created.
I am only at the point of creating very simple filters or modifying existing ones.

I am so addicted to creating textures and the techniques for doing so that usually
wait until I am using a filter that I like but then want to add my own image or other
effect to.
I often use many different filters on a single image.

However I just want to say jffe that inelegant pipes Rocks! It is my new fave I have been doing some real cool things with it.
Granted I often started with images that I have used other filters to make, lol.

The one above is part of a collection I am making called "Ancient Relics".

The next three are a part of a Hearts Valentine's day collection, I used the new
valentines filter, then Inelegant pipes.

Oh yeah I just remembered I made these with a modified version of Pipes.

I added blend in between the profiles gradients and the kaleidoscopes and perlin noise functions. Then put an image box into the background plug of the blend.

This brings up a question I would be happy to share this modded version, is that
allowed to mod other peoples filters and then upload those?
at least 90 percent of all sensation is texture, even beyond the visual, with elements of noise, tone, gradients, interval and degree.

-----Hey infiniview, I'm flattered you enjoy using Inelegant Pipes, and those heart-ish shaped pics are way cool. smile:)
----There are no real "rules" about submitting modified filters. I'd say if you've changed 1/3 to 1/2 of it around inside, then go for it, it's no doubt something new at that point. You have my blesing at least, not that you needed it to begin with. smile;) I guess if anything, I'd say rename it, since you can't *update* my version anyways, (in other words, I wouldn't make it a sequel or a part II), make it your own, make new presets for it, and give it a whole new name etc. smile:)

Just a kudos post to jffe and infiniview. Cool filter and cool images!
Also, I believe nothing is truly your own, so I'm glad to read where filter makers encourage modifications on there creations... smile:)

Cool jffe,

You have a great attitude, I'l consider it, and or see what else I can do with it.
Once again bravo on this filter!

infiniview,

very nice! i'm enjoying your style. i'm naming your pictures:

1. metal petal
2. blood steel
3. steel marrow (dont really like this name that much, but, oh well )
4. organic steel

smile:D

we've had this discussion, in part, before. ownership rights of the filters and the derivative works, seems to be ours, with something like unlimited useage rights by FF, once a filter is submitted. the derivative works are your own, unlimited and unreserved (whatever images you create with the filter). but, you can read the eula for more, or the forum discussion(s).

the bottom line on using someone else's filter(s) or parts thereof is, go for it! common courtesy, if nothing else, dictates a nod to the originator, usually put within the filter info portion of the filter.

Well, if for no other reason then simply, I can't stop someone from doing it, so why not encourage them to do it better. Besides, then I get a new version of something I started if someone else makes an offshoot, so we both/all win in the end that way. smile:D

Hey jffe,

I had already named the filter mod at the time of first save, thinking I would be
able to rename it later. Then I was unable to figure out how to do that.
It did'nt appear to be allowed.
So I guess you need to be careful in naming it the first time, or am I just missing something?

When you submit a filter, it will prompt you after signing in, and ask if it's an update, or a new filter. Just select update, and choose which filter you are updating. smile:)
