Regular sharpening often causes unwanted levels of contrast, especially at higher radii. Soft Sharpen tries to reduce that while keeping that crispness on the borders. Here's an example w/o softness (left) and at 50 (right).

no disrespect, but this doesnt look like sharpening as much as it looks like toning and a bit of blurring, especially in that last pic. it's an interesting effect but i dont see the sharpening.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
