ah, ya beat me to it. i was gonna post on this as soon as i saw it. this one is good! one of the best 'metal' filters i've seen. and it's amazingly, deceptively simple on the inside. i've marked this one as a favorite, steve. it renders fairly fast, handles the lighting well, gives good relief and looks like metal.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Thanx Craig, very glad you like it smile:) I'm also glad you popped the hood and appreciate how efficiently I created it smile:)

This is just one of the base variant filters from a series of different metal filters that I've been working on. Alot of the concepts involve noise relief and textures.....of which some the ideas came from seeing your work with Dilla in the "Noise Lab" string......

yeah, we shld have more tutorial threads like noise lab. one for 'metal', 'glass', refraction in general (that component may confuse folks) and some others. and i'd love one on shapes. i'm horrible with making a pre-determined shape. that's one where i'm in the 'i have a rock' class smile:)

LOL..... Actually, shapes components are coming out in version 2......so you will be all set in that department smile;) smile:) Add the bomber/particle components that are also coming out in version 2, and you with be able to make just about anything you can dream up......

I like this one. If it were just a hair smoother somehow, like the flatter areas at least, it would totally remind me of a coin, or those coin stamping dies they have. Pretty sharp looking though, very controlled, I think that's what I like about it. smile:D

I like the roughness myself. I like how this filter turned out and of course you know I like how the flowers look with it.

I have a variant of it that does this......needs a little more fine tuning, but it will be submitted soon.....
