Thanks Carl - I owe so much to you Steve and jffe, it was very much a joint effort.
BTW, are you an engineer? @ronviers |

I used to be in network access; muxes, routers, servers etc. But about a year ago I decided to get into graphics. From telnet to FF is quite a change.
![]() I like graphics because the results are visible. After I would configure a firewall the client would be happy and give me money but they had no idea why. I come across as very believable in person. ![]() Ironically *I* have a url, interboundgraphics.com, but there isn’t anything there. ![]() @ronviers |

I'll keep that in mind if you and Steve and Kraellin start sell Bridges and land LOL ![]()
Thats a shame because I'm always curious to see what other ff get up to ![]() |

I will trade my knowledge of how to configure the async ports of a Cisco 2516 for your understanding of the dry point mono print process. ![]() @ronviers |

LOL - I have no idea what a Cisco 2516
![]() ![]() your've got some great filter but I'm curious - { crop/resize - streched at the corners - fold and tattered [ sorry if I haven't remember name correctly ]and others all original and clever and deservive of HU } - I don't recall you mentioning [and your non-flooding of churned filters] are you trying to get awarded a free copy of ff ![]() ![]() |

I find it impossible to judge what will go HU, with some I've seen go HU I've though why would anyone like or use it while others I thought were gems end up in the gutter of low - even with my own filter some of the HU were the least likely in my mind to go HU, while other I was most proud of and sweated blood over have gone no where. Ron with the commitment and effort you put into your filter coupled with forum work I'm sure things are going to work out for you

Ronviers, I have been following this filter and then lost sight of it a while ago. Anyway, looking SWEET!!!! The bubble color is very realistic, and I think this filter does indeed have HU written all over it, but who knows right.
Just one suggestion/petition. The bubbles are slightly conical; for lack of a better word, each bubble has a slight point in the middle of them. I know you must be sick of updating this filter by now; however, you may want to try and make the bubbles more spherical. P.S. The Spec Map looks like a cool techno pattern and you may want to play around with it for just a cool techno pattern independent of this filter. Nice work on this one Ron, it is one of your best; and that is saying sometning because you have a lot of great filters. |

Thanks Redcap
![]() I really liked the specstrength map – re-refracting the bump map does a pretty good job of simulating bubble to bubble interaction. I think it will be good for at least one good microscopy filter showing a sample under a coverslip. I am in the middle of another filter now but I will try to get back to this one after that. I *always* think my next one will be my best one. ![]() ![]() @ronviers |

That is funny, I always have to bounce back and forth between about 5 filters at a time because I always hit roadblocks I don't know how to overcome. I usually get the solution for one of my filters through trying to get a different effect on another filter. So it is kind of a "when it rains it pours" situation. So I envy your ability to focus on one filter at a time. I must just have ADHD.
It is because it is usually the case, you filters are great; however, you seem to just keep getting better and better. So by all means put this on the back burner, I am excited to see what you next filter is going to be! |

Hi ahimsa, I have posted an update that adds a two color background and a pure transparent background. Thanks for the suggestion. ![]()
Hi Redcap, I was able to correct the pointy spheres by lowering the surface height environment lighting. Thanks for the feedback. ![]() The new update should post Monday morning 07-16-07. Let me know if you think of anything else. ![]() @ronviers |

Hey Ron, the lead is perfect!!! I would isolate the lead effect and add from there.....like some spectral irridescence on the bubbles, greater reandomization of different sizes, etc......
Great work!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Steve

did you change something here? the default now looks much better than i remember. but, like steve says, i'd change the rest to match the default.

Thanks StevieJ and Kraellin, I had been reading up on texturing in Maya and it reminded me of some of the problems I had with this one - so I decided to try an update. But apparently Maya and FF have some fundamental differences when it comes to surface maps. I still do not understand much about it in either case so I don’t want to say too much but I think what I need for this filter is a reflection map. I tried placing the soapy film color in one of the other maps but I could not get it to work. I think overall I made the effect better, and it is certainly much faster, but I totally spaced out about updating the presets. As far as I know FF does not allow me to constrain lighting parameters for randomization and for some reason that I do not understand yet this filter is very touchy about lighting settings so I will need to be selective about presets. I will send an update in shortly. I have to prep a laptop first though so maybe tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback ![]() @ronviers |

Yes, I remember that now. That is where you disable the changes completely. I was hoping for something in-between. @ronviers |

LOL.. didn't see this one (I just submitted a similar filter, http://www.filterforge.com/filters/4631.html) - looks very nice.. have to see how you did the edges (thats something I'm not satisfied with in my own).

Thanks Sphinxmorpher I look forward to checking it out. ![]()
I control reflection falloff on the edges but simulating a Fresnel effect using a linear ramp on the metallic map.
I like to work on this one in my spare time - I will probably never be satisfied with it. Thanks for checking it out! ![]() @ronviers |

WOW!! I have just discovered this great, awesome and lovely treasure of filter that is so well done and the transparency and bubble effect is amazing, and the final excelent touch is the rainbow colored soapy film option that makes it even more beautiful.
Very good job and congratulation for it and thanks for sharing it Love it This may be very old from 2007, but this is surely a shhining gem, and was very good to find it even after 7 years, is still very useful and there is nothing like this, so I think that the FF Filter Library is like a treasure |
