That's good enough for me - Poser it is.

I will read up on it an report back.

Kewl

Lightwave might be more professional though.. I know you have been thinking on that end of the arts... gotta start learning somewhere though right? And you can always change over to another program when the trial runs out if it doesn't suit what you are looking for...

Poser is a 3D rendering and animation software program optimized for models that depict the human figure in three-dimensional form.

My initial impressions are that without Maya, or something like it, the Poser output will have no environment to exist in.

Go to the 'How does it work' page of Vue 6 Easle http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/...el/?page=3 and it shows the poser import placed on the enviornment background. (scroll down on that page)

I might as well learn Poser first ... but eventally I'll want Vue Easel... looks kewl. But that's why I was saying I'd have to learn Poser... the two go together.

I read that Café FX used Lightwave to set Nicholas Cage on fire in 'Ghost Rider'. I think Lightwave is a part of Bryce. Is that correct? At least parts of Lightwave is integrated into PS CS3 which you mentioned earlier.

Off to read the vue_6 link now.

Just saw that movie! The effects made the movie worthwhile. Had no idea that was Lightwave.

Pretty sure it was used in the movie 300.. but not sure..

I use Poser and Bryce. Bryce is free and you can download DAZ Studio for free to and right now they are even giving models to go with it. DAZ Studio uses Poser stuff and basically does all that Poser does, but for free and with better support.

http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/software/studio/-/download?

I posted the links in jffe's chainmail thread.

I started with Bryce and I think it's easiest to learn, but other people would say Poser or DAZ studio. If you would like to start with scenery, Sci-fi scenes, boat scenes and such and would also like to learn how to make basic 3D models, start with Bryce. Vue is like a higher version of Bryce, but unlike Bryce 5.5, it's definately not free.

If you want to do people and animals, then go with Poser or DAZ Studio.

That sounds like good advice ahimsa. Since I want to make a pterosaur I had better start with Poser or DAZ and since I am always hearing about Poser I probably should check out the trial program they have in place - thanks.

Poser, without an older version costs around $250. DAZ Studio costs $0 and has much better support. They both do the same pretty much. In fact the new version comes with plugins.

I think I should get what I can from the trial programs of the popular apps just so I can share ideas but the free ones are what I will have to use.
Thanks ahimsa and Kraellin.
