Much better. It helps a lot if you already know you are looking at stones through water. People just coming up on it may have a difficult time recognizing it - but in the context of a scene I think it will look great. smile:)

Btw, I think your sand had too much contrast in it. I do not think the black look realistic.

It looks like the stones are losing their height information once the water is applied.

They do, as height map is used for the "top height" and that is now the water surface. Thats what I ment by passing a fully rendered image -> a new batch of filters, in 2.0.

I tried making the stones protrude only partially through the surface of the water but I did not have time to get it working correctly.

The stones look better but imo the water is too opaque - maybe less turbulence and more motion blur. The specularity looks good but I do not know if there should be that much saturation in the reflections.

I'm really liking the water but it's just not transparent enough.

ok, totte, you shld find uberzev's filter dump. he put a number of filters online here in the forums for anyone to use and alter and play with. i think one of them was 'stones - by Uberzev'. it is very similar to yours. here's a shot from that filter with a slight mod on it from me:

I see what voldemort is doing. Does it look like these boards are protruding through non-still water?

Those are nice stones Craig. smile:) I think the reason I am so enamored of Totte's stones is that they look exactly like what I used to get out of my rock polishing machine when I was a kid - especially the ones from the original filter.

Craig, the distortion you are adding to those stones would be perfect for my wood filter. smile:)

Very nice work Totte.
at least 90 percent of all sensation is texture, even beyond the visual, with elements of noise, tone, gradients, interval and degree.

How about this? The default preset + my water caustics...never used them as a height map before, so this is interesting for me. To make the heightmap smooth, I blurred the rocks a bit. For some reason, this made the brown-ish outline around the stones get a lot bigger.

Looking good everyone. I will be back on Monday, talk to you then.
Totte, I think you could add more reflection blur to the stones than to the water.
Indigo Ray, looking forward to checking out your caustics filter - looks very interesting.

Well done, but the ones in the background are to large, shrink them down. It doesnt matter their placment, cause either way they will show up looking like they are stacked. Or make a wood texture and just place a few ontop, well done.
