Cool and useful, awesome idea to make this.
At first looks like another frame filter, but then when you try it and use the settings is when this filter shines and show the great power and all the good things it really can do. Very well done, with lots of customizable options to make grunge frames with lots of possible variations, and modify the mask as you want And also have 3 ways of applying the frame to the source image toghether with the mask The only problem is HOW FF manages the frames in all the filters that is forced to cut a part of the source image and does not "grow" outside of the image or you can´t add your beautiful and great effect as a frame already to the original image without cutting any part of the source as it happens on some Photoshop plugin filters. The best solution for this problem is perhaps to not use the source image and make it transparent and make the frame as you want knowing that you have to make it at a resolution higher than your source image and then mix both inside Photoshop (or any other graphic software that could do this) ![]() |

Thank you for your comments, SpaceRay.
Your input is really appreciated.
Yes! I'm aware of that! I've been trying to figure some techniques to fix this, but no success ![]() I couldn't really say that this issue is really FF's fault or my own flawed filter design. I'm not a FF expert, so maybe I missed a really basic/simple approach to the problem. ![]() If you, FF gurus in this forum, have any suggestions on HOW to fix the described problem, I'd be very thankful ![]() "From the moment we are born, we start being filtered..." |

I do not want to put a negative note on your very well done and original idea, and is not my intention to do it, but must be known that someone could think that is an error from your filter, and is not you who made it wrong.
As far as I know, from all the frame filter I have seen, nobody has been able to solve this. I think that there is one frame filter that what is does is resize the source image to fit it inside the frame, but I think that this was a simple frame filter and not a complex like yours.
If you are interested for more information there is some good explanation by Carl in this thread here Film Noir by Carl The link goes directly to the post related to this. |

You can use the Scale component to shrink the image to fit snugly inside the frame. Just use the same slider that controls frame width. You CAN'T keep the image the same size and add the frame around it because FF doesn't allow this.
BTW, nice filter! Using a second image to modify the shape of the frame is a cool idea! ![]() |

Thank you for your comments and help, guys.
I'll leave it as it is, for now. I've submitted a 1st update that adds X and Y controls, as well as renamed controls, for a more intuitive approach ("INPUT" controls were renamed to "MASK"). Note that presets remains exactly the same ![]() ![]() "From the moment we are born, we start being filtered..." |

I agree that is better to leave it like this now and avoid possible problems with the scaling.
Nice example you have put lipebianc with that grunge frame. Thanks for the update too. |

One of the best frames around. I'm enchanted. It is as gorgeous as the brush or noise filter, both of which I have adapted a bit !
It is fast too, which is much better than the smudge frame which takes ages. |

Love this frame lipebianc. What I like best is you don't know what you are going to get until you add your image. A surprise in every image. Great job.

I think that this is one of the best grunge frames available, at least from the ones I have seen, and well done with customizable parts that gves a great flexibility.
I have an idea to make multiple smaller grunge frames that I will use this one to try to make them and see how it works. |
