To be sincere, when I saw the thumbnail of the filter, I thought they were two branches or two tentacles covered of thorns. Ha! Ha!
Then, I went to the filter page and I saw... the truth. ![]() ( Two tentacles could be a god idea too for a filter ) |

Thanks DJI and Ramlyn..
![]() hehe...guess that thumbnail did its job... ![]() As usual I have a couple other filters based on this one...One also uses an ellipse with a bevel in the loop...What makes that interesting is it makes this one have a blur without actually having a blur... ![]() ![]() ![]() Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

Very good and great idea, like it much, although I regretably do not have time to test it and see what can be done.

Yes, SpaceRay, I guess you are busy. No new filters from you recently.
Same for me. I did nothing new this period ( I only posted 2-3 filters made many months ago ). ( By the way, I sent you an email. Got it? ) |

This is really great, now I have been able to test it and like much all the possible options. very good and well use of the loop component
Please, would be possible that you could be so kind to explain how it works and how you have used the loop component so I (and possibly many others) could understand and learn how it works as you surely know well how to use it Thanks very much Possible ideas and suggestions that are ONLY ideas and you are totally free to do it if you want or not, you decide, as it is your filter, I could do it myself but I do not know how unless youc ould be able to explain how it works. I do not know if these suggestion would make the filter much more complex or not 1 - Be able to have each of the arms with different images, so it would have 2 source images, one for each arm 2 - Be able to have 2 source images but interwoven on both arms, I mean that in each arm it would be image 1 and then after image 2 and then again image 1 and so on 3 - The same as number 2 but instead of 2 source images, to have 4 alternated images in each arm 4 - Now there is 2 arms, and I wonder if it could be perhaps possible to also have the option to have 3 and 4 arms.
Thanks very much for sharing this other version that is also very good and nice I am seeing right and this version has 5 arms instead of the 2 on the original version? as shown on this image here where is shown 5 arms with numbers ![]() |

Ok, does not matter, is not important, I of course understand that you may be busy and do not want to bother you, I will try to keep trying to learn how to use loops In another way
What I still do not know how the first version from FF library uses 2 arms and then after the color version has 5 arms Thanks anyway |

Its the scale and rotate in the loop that affect this......Just open up the filter and play with those settings and watch what happens to the final render....

OK, thanks to know that it is based in the scale, I will try it
I admire and glad that you (and many other Filter Forgers) are able to understand, and be able to use the Loop component in such great and creative way.
To avoid any possible confusion, I do not want that you explain how ALL the filter works, just the part of the Loop involved and why is built this way. But of course I understand well that may be busy and you do not have time, so do not worry. I just told it because the same as Skybase, you explained very well all the shapes creations. |

Well, I have done it and I have tested that is true that modifying the scale main and rotate main you can change from 1 arm to 5 arms (or even 6 perhaps), but the scale is much less important than the rotate main for this, as is the most important to get the effect and changing it very slightly the rotation main value, changes much the result. Thanks for the advice and now I can use it more So now I need to discover how the images are processed and distributed to change them, will try to find out later. |

Well I put together a couple of really quick loop filters for study....The first one is a ball that moves with every iteration....This is a simple loop filter...The offset in the loop controls the rate or spaces in which the ball moves...You can control the x and y and when the settings for that are at zero then the ball will not move in that direction....

Now here is the same loop with a blend added and the ellipse attached to that so it stays in one place when going through the iterations....Compare the Loop Design2 and 3 to understand movement....You could even replace the offset with a rotate or scale to understand how the loop works in general.....

Now here is the harder one as far as movement in the loop....This takes the ellipse and repeats it via..(Profile gradients, Lookup)....Then does a Polar Coordinates..(Free Gradients, Lookup).....Now when you use the iterations lets say 5 the Repeat and Polar Coordinates will repeat 5 times...This is the basics of loops....Of course its gets much more complicated but this is very basic in this post....

Surely you are one of the masters and expert of loop component because as far as I know you are the one that have shared and published more filters including loop than anyone else and in original and creative ways |

This filter is not working in FF6. The reason is connected with the double loop.
I attach here a temporary version tested in FF6, just in case somebody needs it. CFandM will surely make a better update very soon. Stacked Swirl CFandM.ffxml |
