Oh hey, here's some critique.

So to me, this is one of those novelty fun filters. It's pretty specific in terms of what it does and it basically does exactly as ... the story goes. I would argue while the visual style isn't at it's best, but as for the idea I think it's interesting. It's basically what I would consider a start of a filter or an idea.

Now for some things that I think should deserve better. Since a public library is intended for public usage, there's often the conflict of novelty vs useful. This filter presents that issue as well. It's like novelty and fun, but it doesn't entirely present itself as being useful. The question would be how many situations are there where you'll be using this filter? And while we can push the creativity to extend a bit towards the filter, we can only do so much with it as well. In the end most people prefer rather generic filters.

So from what I conclude, the idea's great, the visual appearance will need a ton more work, and the filter should have more practical usage for everyday design.

I think it's a start! So keep pushing with all of those and you'll have a fantastic / interesting filter.

Hi, thanks for the critique, and thanks I think. Maybe it is a bit of fun, but I couldn't think of a way to take this forward as you suggested, perhaps you can take it further and show me what you can make it to become more useful, it would be much appreciated.

ooth, should clarify that this is just commentary and action isn't necessary but since discussion's always nice to have might as well kickstart one right here.

Try answering these two questions:
What influenced you to make this filter? How do you yourself find this filter useful?

Basically those two questions will be what's necessary to create a filter.
The first question is your reference you can look at -- in this case a river? Some footage from the deep sea?

The second question is it's usage which will shape the features of the filter. -- Do you make stuff with your own filters? How was it useful to you?

[edit] some punctuation.

I agree it has small limits for use, I've only used it once as a backdrop on a larger piece of work. I do use my filter a fair amount, although a lot of them are experimental to learn the parameters of Filter Forge.
I'm still interested if you could point a direction that this filter could take, although I'm not sure I can do much in the last 20 days trial of this great filter program. One day I will be able to afford a licence. I'm sorry if I sounded aggressive before and it is nice to actually get some feedback of any type. smile:)

Sure, those two questions will be basically what I would need to get started constructing a filter that you dreamed of. And pretty sure I can help here with the technicalities. But I can't start without information. I gotta know what's in your head. I otherwise can only guess at it.

Forgive me for my bit of pushiness! I'm kinda like this when it comes to art. There's always something good at the end of all the work that's done. Sometimes other people can deliver that.

Also the thing is, the public library is really open to judgement given how filters are made free for all to use. Most often filters that don't get attention remain quiet. So those filters end up getting no commentary on how to improve or what to do better. I guess I just wanna be honest about art.

Hi, like most of my filters they start out exploring filter forge. I just carry on and develop as far as I can, if I can then use them in a piece of work that's great. This filter reminded me of the SciFi horror B movies when the monster was of in the distance, never quite seen but causing fear and that's what I used it for. If this information helps, let me know. I don't know much about the mathematics of graphical work, so have to grope blindly forward and try and test, hopefully I can occasionally produce something that other people can use smile:)
