This seems to be interesting and well done, like the idea and how the image is multiplied and duplicated in random ways

I think this could be used in different ways

The main thumbnail I think that does not show really the power and features of the filter, and any of the other presets show really the great potential

Hey thanks everyone - I'm glad that you are enjoying the filter. I picked the main thumbnail because that was the best example of the filter working in the way in which it was designed, i.e. natural looking but some of the unnatural effects are equally interesting.

So, the real filter is to get the effect shown on the first thumbnail, and the others presets are just a collateral or addiitional different effect?

Then I understand why the main thumbnail is this one and sorry that I misunderstood the filter and thought wrong

No problem LexArt, I appreciate all of your comments. Even though I wrote this filter I don't understand half of the things that it does.

Nice, Chris! smile8) A few things:
1. The smoothnesses (<-- add to dictionary) of the thresholds aren't the same. I added sliders to them, I think it adds to the power of the filter.
2. The offset inside the loop controls the "vanishing point" (look at preset #9, for example). Being able to control the offset X/Y would be useful.

Great observations Indigo Ray! I'm impressed that you were able to figure all of that out. I do see that the smoothness is different on the two thresholds, the second was supposed to be a copy of the first but I may have not copied that setting. I'll have to see if adding a slider for smoothness adds to the filter. Also sliders for the offsets inside the loop seems like something that I should add. I did have a variant of the filter which had sliders for those but at the time it didn't seem to add much value. Now I can see that they would be very useful.

This filter has at times during its development had more controls and more features, for example varying the shift amount depending on how many iterations of the loop had been performed or shifting the hue each time through the loop. I pared down the controls and the less useful features before publishing but I may want to add a couple of those controls back.

Thanks to you for making the filter, and I am the same like you, when I opened the filter I also do not understand half of the things inside.

Please can you tell more of what is your original intention for the effect of your filter as you told that the main thumbnail is the nearest to what you wanted

I mean that I see that this very nice and good, and original and cool, for the other presets but not for the main one, sorry that I do not see it in the possible way you may have wanted to make it

My idea was that it would be able to make a clean selection of an object and repeat that object in an interesting way. The thumbnail which I chose is the one that does the best job of making a clean selection but the other thumbnails maybe do a better job of repeating in an interesting way.

I'm totally open to changing the thumbnail if the current thumbnail is understating the filter. Which thumbnail would you have chosen?

Thanks Chris, I will try to see your intention and how it works and what can be done, I think that it may be a great idea.

I do not think that the thumbnail may be wrong IF you say that the one chosen is the one that represents more what you wanted as the filter is your creation

SpaceRay, I added two more sliders to control the location of the "vortex". Most recently I fixed a bug where the center of rotation was computed incorrectly, which was causing the filter to not work as well in portrait mode.

I'm guessing that you have a fairly large image if it is taking that long. Reducing the number of iterations or turning off anti-aliasing would speed things up. Reducing the pixel size of the original image would probably make the biggest difference.
