Would be cool!!! smile8)

I hope people use it, because due to the life preserver it's very hard to see what this filter can do.

Maybe you can supply some example images here to illuminate... smile;)

Fun filter, ALZHEM. smile:)

I made one sort of similar called "Warper Spheres" -- but instead of refraction, my warpers use circular/spherical offsets for a slightly different kind of distortion. (You can click on my filters link to find it.)

Also that "gizmo" idea is pretty clever -- on my filter I usually have to temporarily increase the strength of a warper sphere to see better where it's located...

And SSAMM, thanks a lot for your comments. Yes, it is more or less like yours, but mine is more focused in faces. That's why the life preserver is horrible to show the effect.

ah, i did one that produced some effects like your goo portion. i believe poor donna suffered a bit of facial contortions as a result of that smile:)

but i'm curious here; why have the 'goo' portion and the 'gizmo' portion both in the same filter? they seem like pretty different effects and suitable, each for their own filter.

Hi Kraellin

The gizmo is used to place the "deformers" where you want, and when you get it you can return to the deformation. It´s just to help, no more smile:)

alzhem,

i'd suggest when you do version 2, that you put a 'goo' preset as the default. folks will see that and get a better idea of what the filter does.

One idea for version 2.0 might be to see if you can make it faster. I'm not sure how possible this is, though (since I'm not really sure what is making it slow).

Maybe is there a way to use only one blur (rather than four)?
Is the "tile" component slow(?)... (I used "frames" which seems to be faster and also doesn't use "blur", but it seems to have it's faults too...)
Or it could be that "refraction" is slow -- but I think that's pretty vital (which I wouldn't want changed...)

Anyway, just brainstorming... smile:)

Thanks for the idea Kraellin, but I didn´t put the goo preset by default this time because you would only see the life preserver with a light distortion. I´ve suggested the developers to put 3 different images to choose, like the photo cameras: life preserver, landscape, and portrait (a face or something similar). Until it´s not done the distortion won´t be clearly visible with the current image.

Anyway I´ll try to do something... more attractive for the preset by default. Thanks a lot Kraellin smile:D

The refraction is pretty slow, but I´ll try to improve the speed with your methods.

Thanks a lot

Hummmm...

I didn´t know your filter Kraellin, and I like your idea for that kind of distortion! Maybe I will develop something based in your distortion for my 2.0 version. Always if you don´t mind it, of course.
Who knows if, step by step, we could get a plugin similar to Kai´s Power Goo smile;)

alzhem,

yeah, i understand about the huge interface. if you do decide to do it, just release it under a new name so that folks have the option of the simpler and the more advanced.

'warping' was one of the reasons i got more interested in graphic engines in the first place. so, i like this one and would be glad to see it expanded even further.
