Kraellin it definitly work 100% on some pics - some pic's are harder to control. Did you feed your monster the displacement snippet?

carl, no, i didnt. in fact, i forget where it is now, but i do want to look at it. i've been toying with the little monster again. in fact, i'm knee deep in trying to work out a really good extraction, isolate routine but it's driving me nuts at the moment.

steve has me thinking about that universal filter and the displacement, isolate, extraction is key to it.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

well, i kept trying to re-write richard bartlett's 'color isolate', but just couldnt get it much better. so, i threw the whole thing out and wrote a new one. this one is two channels to let you isolate a range better. it's still a bit rough but works pretty well.

but, doing an actual displacement mapping with laying one image down to fit the elevation of another may be a bigger problem than i thought.

but this is really off-topic to carl's thread here, so i may start another thread on this.
