This is fweakin' BADA$$! The COIN AGE is upon us.

As usual, great documentation and what a unique filter... this one should find its way into blingy greeting cards and all manner of "RING ROLLAH DOLLAH HOLLAH!" imagery, whatever that is.

Zephos adds another crown jewel to his arsenal of fun filts!

OK, don't let me get ahead of myself, I haven't even tried it yet... *downloads*

Thank you everyone so much for trying out Coin Age! I'm glad that you all like it! ~^_^~

Coin Age is actually one of my filters that has a bit of a weird story to how the final product was created. Originally, it was a double feature filter called Money Maker that did both bills and coins, however, the bill part of the filter didn't meet my satisfaction at the time (Mainly the number generator part of it, which was also axed on Coin Age), so I decided to divide the filter into two parts.

Later on, I found out that Coin Age actually has the potential to make all sorts of cylindrical objects, like wheels, sushi rolls and cakes with a little adjustment, although I'm still refining a few of these concepts ^_^ Of all my filters though, Coin Age was probably the hardest one to rig up to control, since well... Kraellin probably said it best in regards to looking under the hood, ahahah ^_^

Oh yes, if anyone is interested, below you should find the sub-filter of Coin Age that was axed out called Countdown. I was thinking of publishing it as a Snippet at some point, but a filter that generates only numbers 0 to 999 might not be the most useful of things created on Filter Forge, ahaha, although if anyone thinks otherwise, please let me know ^_^

Thanks again everyone for trying out Coin Age and taking the time to comment on it, it is always appreciated!!! ~^_^~

oh, countdown is very cool, zephos. you shld submit it.

and in the casual glance i took of coin age's guts, you may be able to simplify that corner masking you used to get rid of the unwanted offset parts. take a look at the 'rotate' snippets and think 'frame component and rotate'.

Thank you for your kind words Persidio! You always take so much care when writing posts on the forums, so I appreciate you taking the time to comment on my filters ^_^ Ahahah, I could definitely learn a thing or two from you though when it comes to filter followup, as I noticed that you always thoroughly cover the versatility of your filters on the forums, whereas I have a tendency to errr... hot potato my filters after they are done for a lack of a better analogy ^_-

Excellent point Kraellin, I took a look and I think I know what you mean. It seems that a mask can be achieved right from the rotate by using a frame component near the start of the rotate snippet. Currently, my alterations have been off balance so it cuts it off a bit inaccurately, but I'm going to experiment with it a bit more to see if I can make it more efficient ^_^ Thanks again for taking the time to look at the internals and helping me out ^_^

Thank you StevieJ ^_^ I'll think about submitting Countdown now after a bit more refining. Countdown actually had an advanced version created called Text Matrix that could create any letter/number of the English alphabet using a technique similar to alpha-numeric LED displays (which Countdown also uses, but in an simpler grid with no diagonals) -- problem was that the controls were a switching nightmare due to the limit on the switch and the filter is 6 times bigger, so I shelved it -- for now ^_^

Lately, I've been unusually selective of releasing my filters to maintain a good high usage ratio (something like 42% of total before Coin Age), but I think it's been holding me back, so my next series of filters probably will be simpler in execution like in my earlier filter days, ahaha ^_^ Hope nobody minds ^_^

Did you ever look at the playing cards filters..Those might give you some ideas..Those switches were interesting to set up..

Thank you CFandM ^_^ I'll take a look at your playing card filters and see if I can derive a more efficient solution than my current setup (basically a switch of a switch for a switch times three, ahahaha) ^_- Oh! Looks like Filter Forge got upgraded again, guess I'll pick up a copy of Playing Cards after it's done -_^

It'd be awesome to get a text producing filter up and going, I was planning to try out making a Tarot Card maker too since I'm a big fan of their general design and concept, although the current limits of Text Matrix limits the slots for letters/numbers to 3, although expanding it shouldn't be too much of a problem if lotsa' controls isn't a problem, ahahaha ^_^

Your coin filter should win an award!!! I'm going to make some time this weekend to turn it into a 'stamp' for Ulead's PhotoImpact and PSP'ers can turn it into a tube file for their program. smile:ff:

This is another filter that knocked my socks off this morning! Where are my socks!?

smile:D smile:D smile:D This filter sizzles~! Love it~ smile:D

Oh thank you Zephos!! Your an angel!~ smile:angel:

Truth is I can't get to all my filters. I do what I can... I've been meaning to make a pair of 'boxer shorts' with the boxer shorts filter and a 'candle' for the smoke, fire and water fitler. Just no time with filter making. And not to mention the example pics I need to get done for 'selective fills' something I mention on quite a few of my fitlers but some might not know what I'm referring to ... so I really need to get some screen shots up for those filters. And also there are my friends filters I try to get to in the Gallery and comments area---> sometimes I drop the ball and can't get to everything; but I try really hard to be there for everyone plus tend to filters.

well, dont bend your brain on it. what you have may actually work better and it certainly does work. it just looked a bit lengthy and it occurred to me that if shortened it might speed up the filter. so, if it does, then great but yours DOES work, so, i wouldnt lose any sleep over it smile:)

i also had another reason for looking at the guts of this one. that particular perspective of looking at the coin is one that is very useful but also a bit tricky to get the front curve of the coin and the back edge curve and then the edge itself to all line up correctly. so, i'll be studying your filter for that reason, too.

Thank you so much Persidio ~^_^~ I'm very happy that you think highly of Coin Age ^_^ The irony for me seems that with the exception of Fireworks, all my heavy duty filters seem to be generally unpopular, ahahaha -- maybe it's because they target novel uses or something along those lines instead of something more generally usable. Yeah, I know what you mean about lack of time with filters, I have dozens of unfinished filters that are just laying around in pieces ^_^ Your filter ideas are very creative and I love the examples you post for them!

Thank for your support Kraellin ^_^ Yeah, another thing I always wanted to put more into Coin Age was for foreshortening which ronvier mentions a thread on in the Creating Filter forum. My earlier experiments had much to be desired and the tilt in Coin Age at 100% forward facing is actually not realistic, although the coin thickness compensates for the offset. Unfortunately, like a lot of my complex filters, Coin Age seems to also suffer when used on wide or tall images (only in Free mode though, Stack Mode should be fine). There's definitely a lot of things I would like to return to when I gain a little bit more experience ^_^ Maybe more shapes like triangle, octagon and other shaped coins as well would be nice ^_^
