This is my first filter and I welcome feedback. I have created a lot of textures the old fashioned way in Photoshop and hope some of that knowledge will translate over eventually.

looks good, burt.
one suggestion: have you tried adding a bit of global noise in there? wood is very grainy, especially oak, which almost has holes in the grain. and yes, a photoshop or any graphic editor background, is going to be useful here. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Good job Burt -- especially for a first filter! ^_^ Instantly reminded me of a desk I helped put together at work -- well, what's left of it anyway (I'm not too good at physical things), ahahah ^_^ I like the fingerprint like grain pattern you used and it's pattern looks unique from other wood filters on Filter Forge. I also second Kraellin's suggestion on more noise, but as a base texture, it is looking very good, especially if you created it from scratch! Oh yes, might be handy for reference:
Antique Oak Not sure if it'll be of any help to you, but keep up the good work! -Zephos |
