Thanks! I'm just starting out, so it's good to know you like it. I've only been playing with FF for the past couple days, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. smile:)

I really like this filter ^_^ You've done an excellent job establishing the controls for this filter as well, and the slimy scales are most appealing!

One problem I find is that if you click on the NewVersion button, it plays havok with the tuning of a couple offset filters, and the "belly bloating" effect goes crazy. smile:) Same thing happens with my bug wing filter. You can see it in some of the variant presets.

But still, it can look kinda neat, just not quite a lizard belly anymore.

Sometimes it is easier to make your own variations rather than hitting the button. Quite often in the filters i make a certian measure of control has to be held over the variants, and that random mixing that the program makes by hitting that button just wont do it any justice.
I do that all the time.

Just thought i would show you a blend of your gator with my amphibiot filter.
(still needs a little work, but I think its pretty cool)

That looks nice. I didn't put too much work into the color layers on gator. Just stone noise with two assignable colors, plus the belly gradient tint.

The new version of Gator should be coming up shortly.

Hmmm. I just had a thought....maybe I'll try making an image texture as a switchable option for the diffuse layer on gator. Then you can render out an Amphibiot texture, then pass that into gator. That would save you from having to update your mod every time I improve gator. smile:)

OK, that was easy. Now you can plug in any image as a source texture for gator. smile:)

oh...on your new version, can you make the white belly stripe as optional?

(I know I can easily turn it off myself, but it might be a nice option in general)

The second version (already uploaded, but not in the system yet) doesn't let you disable the belly tint, although you can set it to the same color. But that's not quite the same, since you still lose the noise-stones two tone effect.

After I uploaded that version, I added the option to take an image source. The imported image replaces the noise-stones & belly tint layers (but the between-tile tinting still applies to the imported texture). Since I haven't uploaded that version yet, I'll add an option to disable the belly-tinting effect before I upload this third update.

BTW, the second version of Gator has a rewritten tile-height-map algorithm. I think it looks more realistic, but just in case you really liked the fantasy "glassy" look of the 1.0 version, I left it in there with a checkbox control.

I've updated Gator to include an image as a diffuse layer source, and an option to disable the belly tinting.

I don't know if this is a good or bad thing, but now Gator is considered a "misc" filter and no longer an "organic" filter. I guess that's because it now has an image source option, which changes it's base category type? Personally I think it belongs in organic and would be easier for someone to find there.... Oh well. smile:|

selmo, yes; when you put an image component in a filter it gets put in the bottom half of the filter categories. it's no longer considered a straight texture filter and is now considered an effect filter.
