Cool, I missed this one this morning.
This would have worked well with my "catz" filter...your stripes are a thousand time better than my tiger stripes Rawn |

This filter really caught my attention! It reminds me of a rug I remember seeing when I was a kid -- before the who extinction and endangered species thing caught on probably, ahahah X_X. This would great for texturing tiger models needless to say and Variation 2 is just begging to be zebra hide. Only thing I could recommend though is adding a bit more of a course hair underlaying texture though like a slightly stretched fine Perlin Noise run through a distortion, but the filter is looking mighty good already!

Rawn: I really like your Catz filter. Tigress is a bit more idealized and "graphic", with less hair texture realism than Catz. In fact, I started a cheetah / leopard version, but wasn't very happy with the results. But I liked the spots in Catz, so I may do a combination of Tigress with a variant of your spots algorithms.
Zephos: actually, there is a stretched perlin noise running through a distortion on the background layer already. ![]() Tigress is intentionally purely 2D, but I'm thinking of extending it to a 3D version with more fur texture and depth. |

Ah! I see ^_^ Good call, I should have played around with it a bit more before jumping to conclusions but I'm glad to hear that you've already implemented it into the filter ^_- Good show~! I also like your plans for a 3D version, great thinking!

I am cool with that. One thing I really like about this place is how open people are to sharing what they make. Its such a relief from other art communities where every second word it "copyright infringement" LOL Actually, maybe we can swap algorithm ideas....I would love to do a variation on your gator. I do alot of work with reptile textures, so that one really inspires me. Rawn |

I really like how filters are open and adjustable. If a filter does ALMOST what you want, but not quite, you can go in and tweak it. If you want to learn how someone did something, you can go in and see how it works. I think the openness of filters is very powerful both at the user and developers levels.
I've got some improvements to gator in the works that you should like then. ![]() |
