Very nice! I especially like the little bits of grit in the hide, it gives it that extra organic look ^_^ Variation 5 has an interesting nuclear effect going for it too! If it's anything though, I'd have to request a red preset just for a visual lineup of the thumbnails, ahahah, gotta' love them red dragons ^_^

some interesting looks there in some of those presets. like, #2 almost looks like foam baffles. the default looks like a good cartoon/animation type scale. would be great for children's illustrations too.

i'd love to see something a little more earthy, too. something with a bit more grit and roughness and some darker hues and streaks/veins and a bit more depth as a follow-up on this one. maybe a dragon hide II.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

As far as being realistic, it depends on the lighting and the color. Here is a good example of a more realistic scaling. Looks like an armedillo (or however you spell it)

nice sphere. ya know, you've given me an idea here. i'll bet some of these filters would look great as the color/texture/images on hot air balloons!
